Reports, The Flint River shoal bass are hitting on mid-depth crankbaits above Bainbridge. The major lake largemouth bite is slow and requires deep crankbaits and Carolina rigs or deep Texas rigs with light line. I expect the topwater bite to enhance with fall conditions. As for night fishing, the bite is still there between 4 and 6 a. M. And between 7 and 9:30 p. M, lures like the Devil s Horse, Milk Run, Jitterbug, Jackall Pompadour and buzzbaits should work. For those who aren’t familiar with the Pompadour, it s like a Crazy Craw on steroids. As for poppers, I favor a Rico or a Splash It. (gon.com)
Editor’s Note: I like to catch lots of fish that fight hard, test my tackle and my fishing expertise and taste delicious when I eat them. These characteristics describe the shellcracker redear sunfish with its nicknames of stumpknocker and yellow bream. The South homes some of the biggest shellcrackers, so named due to the grinding teeth in their throats that crush snails, shells and mollusks, in the nation. (nighthawkpublications.com)
Bluegill and redear sunfish shellcrackers will frequently feed early and late this time of year in places where they’re apt to spawn in the spring and early summer. Attempt fishing crickets or earthworms near or directly on the bottom in sandy regions with clean, hard bottoms devoid of an abundance of cover. For bluegills throughout this non-spawning period, it’s a good time to attempt casting tiny spoons, spinners or alike artificials around the shallow edges on ultralight tackle. Fly-fishing may also be a good late-summer choice. (gameandfishmag.com)
Bass fishing is slow. The bass will be tight in any shallow brush out to the ends of the points mid to lower lake. Carolina rigs with green pumpkin Zoom lizard will work. Use one rod with a 4-inch lizard and one rod with a 6-inch lizard and learn what the bass like. Use the Lowrance CHIRP Sonar and the Lowrance Down beams to see the fish close to the bottom. Run HIGH or MEDIUM CHIRP with regular 200 kHz or 83 kHz beams to find the schools of baitfish. Find the bait fish, find the bass. Look for the clouds of baitfish in the the creeks and at the opening of the coves. Baitfish should also be found around the humps in the center of the lake. (georgiawildlife.wordpress.com)
Bass fishing is good all over the lake with creek mouths being the hottest target regions. Floating worms in grass and wood structure is a good pattern. Fishing the creek banks with slow-rolled spinnerbaits is a good technique as the water warms afterward in the day and the fish move shallow. Bream fishing is good. Shellcrackers are biting well and should remain reasonably active for a time. Now they’re in three to eight feet of water near live wood structure. Look for bream action to continue being good as water keeps warming. Crappies are just and most fish are deep. Target ledges in 15 to 25 feet of water. (albanyherald.com)

Area #10 Talquin Lake Fishing Report The mouth of Mews Creek is a good year-round area for schooling bass. Work plastic worms for largemouth where Mewes Creek and Ochlockonee River channels merge. Cast toward the bank then work the creek channel Area #11The bends on Little River average about 12 feet deep and hold crappie throughout winter. One technique is to use a rake or paddle to scoop a hole in the floating hyacinth, then check for minnows. If bait is present, crappie are usually below. Drop a live minnow or small jig through the hole in the weed canopy. In the summer, bass and striper school are here, feeding on thick populations of shad. (bassonline.com)
I have been able to get access to the Yellow River south of Harold, FL. This is a private setup and an yearly fee is needed. You car must have a club sticked on the back window of your car. This part of the river isn’t fished as heavily as the upper end near Milligan or the lower end down by hwy 87. I completely enjoyed fishing there twice in the past 3 week and plan to go Monday and Tuesday of next week. It is a beautiful small river that starts up in Alabama and runs down through the Panhandle. Most of the eastern bank is part of Eglin AFB so you may see some Special Forces people running the river. Bert Deener and his daughter visited the east side of the swamp on Friday afternoon, and the flier bite was on. It was a warm afternoon after a cold morning, however the fish woke up about a half-hour after we got there. The 1st half-hour was very slow we didn’t get a bite. But, after checking some number of of my favorite spots, we found them. We ended up catching exactly 50 fliers. Lily pad flats were the key the only cover type that we could catch them from. They were pretty picky, as pink was the color sally that fooled them we tried all the colors . They wanted the fly fished gradually and underneath a float so that it dangled in their face and allowed them to think about it awhile before committing. (costadelmar.com)
