There are 52 Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza events per year per server plus a accumulative fraction that differs with leap year that amounts to an sporadic extra one . Since the Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza was added on 13 September 2005. So as we approach September 2010, there will have been about 250 Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza events per server. Estimate that some important part of players will have picked each prize, say between 30 to 70, and that we can discount characters who have won more than twice, consuming a prize that they already had. That says there should be around 75 to 175 Arcanite Fishing Poles and a corresponding 175 to 75 Hooks of the Master Angler per server this coming September. (wowwiki.wikia.com)
To win the tournament be sure you keybind your cast and mount. Avoid PvP if it means going to an area with less pools, if you get ganked once you've lost like 2 minutes which is big. In that same vein don't annoy trying to fish in the neighborhood around the big waterfall/whirlpool because that's typically where majority of people are at. Don't share pools. I've had lots of success starting at the inland rivers and the northern coast of stv on yojamba isle. Typically I loop back and forth around where i start rather than going up and down the whole coast. (reddit.com)

Given this endless roll of a dice that has no cares for last results, who knows what variable establishes the odds of success at this, or any number of WOW’s countless, randomly determined rewards. The number of in-game steps you have taken on average in the last seven weeks? The size of the lead designer’s feet, divided by the speed of light and multiplied by the second half of your screen resolution? Nobody knows, and whatever system controls such things is a cold and tortuously opaque thing. In spite of the frightening numbers involved, the black Herring was still considered the least elusive of the precious fish that may be caught to trigger the achievement. (eurogamer.net)
Let us look at the all things that went wrong for me: I got ganked, started in a high-population area that went dry quickly, alt-tabbed and missed one of my casts, and had lots of non-contest fish jump on my bait. By all means, set your hearthstone in Booty Bay, learn the fishing pool spawn patterns, and memorize the perfect angle to stand in relation to a pool to maximize your casts every advantage will assist you. But do not get depressed when things do not go as planned. Improvise and keep a level head you have still got this. (gamediplomat.com)
To catch Tastyfish, you have to cast your bobber inside one of the fishing nodes. To be on the safe side, ensure that your bobber is at least partially touching the edge of the swirling waters. Ideally, cast it right into the center so you do not have to worry. If you miss, re-cast again. There’s no way to ensure that your bobber will land in the right place. Learn how far back to stand so that the average-distance cast will at least have a chance to intersect the pool itself stand too close and you will generally overcast; stand too far and your bobber will never make it out to the pool . I think a good approach can be to start on the north west coast and fish all the easy pools 1st, if only to prevent others to get the easy catches. Then move on to Yojamba Isle and hope that you’re alone and you’ll have a good chance of winning. Another approach could be to start on Yojamba Isle. If you find yourself alone there you’ll have a big advantage over everyone else this was all I did on my second win . Two of the pools there were so close together that the line could land in either one, and once I had finished one it respawned before my eyes as I was fishing from the other one. (wow-strategy.com)
I noticed that there were few people fishing around here, it is possible that lots of people start in the South because of a bug which has since been fixed if it has not, you may be able to still see the pools spawn which leaves the North coast pretty open. I did not see another person fishing till I had about 35 fish, and the lack of competition really helps to get you a good head start. The pools have a pretty good respawn time so it is well worth fishing around here. You will want to start on a part of coast that you must yourself for a bit, ideally. Also, people will fish in your pools. (Visit this link)
Firstly, Riggle Bassbait will announce, ‘Let the fishing tournament begin!’ in-game, then you begin to catch speckled tastyfish from any fishing node around all parts of Stranglethorn Vale. The skill of Find Fish capability at least 100 is greatly suggested. The 1st three participates who return to Riggle Bassbait in Booty Bay with 40 speckled tastyfish will be the winners for the week and earn a great heirloom item, a Dread Pirate Ring, which is adhere on account and may be shared with your characters on the same realm or may be sent between your characters via in-game mail if the recipient is a member of the opposing faction. For some info and because Wailing Caverns had taken so long, I was nearly late. I set my hearthstone at the inn in Booty Bay and ran out to the beach to the northeast. Really I started a little north of that sea giant on the coast. I firstly tried to be friendly by not ‘stealing’ any pools from people, however there must have been hundreds of people everywhere. Most pools ended up with 3-4 fishermen. So I said screw it and fished with everyone else. (casualhardcore.wordpress.com)
