At 9 old nephew Christian. He hasn t fished for the last two months and is keen to get going. I m using a black buzzbait with a white two-tailed trailer my favorite largemouth bass set up, whereas Christian uses a 5 soft stickbait. He s the 1st one to get a bite but he misses the fish because he forgets to set the hook! I get an explosive hit on my buzzbait but the bass doesn t connect with the hook. Nice; this is all inside the 1st ten minutes of fishing! We gradually drift towards the northern end of the ponds which consists of broad shallows 4-5 ft deep with aquatic vegetation made up of long, narrow floating leaves. (amazingfishametric.com)

We had a great time at the cabin. The lake is great for fishing, if only just off the dock. The kids enjoyed the fishing and tubing in the lake. The cabin was a beautiful Maine Camp with knotty pine walls and floors. Each room had a roof fan and there was an air conditioner that helped keep the camp cool in the hot sun. The deck was shaded in the afternoon and evening and the firepit was useful for night time entertainment. The golf course only 1/2 mile away was great. They have two seperate 18 hole courses, many practice greens, and a driving range. The canoe and kayaks were a a lot of fun to explore the lake with. (vacationhomerentals.com)
The Maine B. A. S. S. Nation is dedicated to keeping you updated on the new news from around our sport. The challenges we face will generally be present and prompts us to remain vigilant in our efforts beyond tournament fishing. We must continually elevate public awareness of our organization and the different roles the Maine Nation plays inside the community. As advocates for conservation, youth and community service, we should generally look for opportunities to advertise the good will of the organization. Last year, millions of the foot-long silver fish began showing up in the Sebasticook River in numbers on April 29. This year, when they hadn’t still shown up by May 7, organizers of the yearly festival said they were worried, not least because they had sold more than 50 tickets to a May 16 alewife dinner that kicks off the festivities. Organizers rely on the presence of the fish to hand out free smoked alewives throughout the May 17 festival. (pressherald.com)
The Webber Pond dam is a concrete, masonry, and earthen structure located on Sevenmile Stream at the outlet of Webber Pond in Vassalboro, Maine. The dam is owned by the Webber Pond Asociation and is bordering to a ship launch and beach owned by the Town of Vassalboro. Recently an Alaskan Steeppass fish ladder and sorting pool were installed at the dam, with a new mechanical stoplog system at the pond outlet. Previous to the installation of the fish ladder and sorting pool the dam impeded the passage of upstream migrating fish like alewives. Before the fishway was installed the Maine Department of Marine, Resources MDMR had been netting adult alewives at the base of the dam and lifting them over the dam into the pond for spawning and phosphorous sequestration. I must thank my friend, and fellow Jack Hook Pro Staffer Corey Vose to get me interested in the sport of bass fishing. Since to get started, I have joined Capital Area Bass Masters, fished open tournaments and this year, joining the local TBF tournament trail. I managed to win the 1st tournament of the year on Webber Pond, and finish third on Annabessacook Lake while catching Lunker that day. I am looking forward to an amazing 2013. (jackhooks.com)
In the 1800 s, farmers cleared this land for crops and pastures, and mill holders dammed the pond for water power. In 1909 the trolley line opened and connected the rural town of Vassalboro to the cities of Waterville, Augusta, and Lewiston. The KLT loop trail crosses a trolley line that was abandoned in 1932. All of these historical land uses altered drainage patterns and soil conditions and influenced the vegetation patterns at VWH. As you walk in the forest and wetland today, we hope you enjoy seeing the varied plants and birds on the site. (tklt.org)
