Cook County Forest Preserves + Joes Pond: Catfish have slowed but bluegill and bullhead are being taken on red worms and nightcrawlers. Tampier Lake: Bluegill improved in numbers close to shore and bullhead were taken from the dam and the peninsula late in the afternoon or early morning hours. Ship anglers found the fish cribs along the western shore good places with small bait or artificials. Axehead: Zebra Mussels have weakened many lines that are worked close to the bottom. Bluegill, small perch and rock bass were all taken this week. Maple Lake: Largemouth bass on plastic worms and a buzz bait worked near the weeds early in the morning. (articles.chicagotribune.com)

Great Lakes salmon brings them back to their place of birth. They return to the harbor area to prepared themselves for their run up river to spawn. On their return they typically take a small vacation out in front of the harbor area and in the entryways to the harbor. Your charter will concentrate on these regions to offer a chance at landing some big ones. If a trophy "King" is what you’re searching for then this may be a viable choice for your trip. These fish may also be taken "casting" towards the end of September. Well, the 2015 fishing forecast for Lake Michigan may be better. In fact, it may hardly be worse. Most stations measure wind speed, direction, and gust; barometric pressure; and air temperature.
