After the chance to sit down with Dave Underhill, who owns and runs The Fishing Crew with his son, Curt. Dave was involved in tournament fishing his whole life. With the tournament circuit to get to be such big business, Dave and some number of of his friends thought the time was entitlement to start a grass roots outlaw tournament trail that wasn t so reliant on big sponsors. Planning for the 2009 season began all most now following the tournament on August 29, 2008. AIM Anglers Insight Marketing had representatives at our 2008 tournament to watch our organization and community. They were considering new places to hold their Professional Walleye Tournaments for 2009. Needless to say they were well impressed with the Town of Akaska, the community, and the turn-out of fans, spectators and fishermen that supported this tournament.   They approached us to see if they we could work out a cooperation with them. > Devils Lake is producing good walleye catches for both ship anglers and shore fishermen. Walleye anglers have long had a hypothesis that minnows work best early in the year and as the season progresses, switch over to crawlers or leeches. These walleyes did not get that memo. Kenneth Wheeler, board member of the American Saddlebred Horse affiliation, is accountable for a new competition this year. It’s called the 5-Gaited Special Class which will be held on Wednesday night May 29. Some of the world's top jumper riders, as well as Olympian McLain Ward, will test their expertise and compete on 5-Gaited Saddlebreds at Devon. Each jumper rider will have a practice session, then show the horse in the class. Going for that 1st place prize. Horses will be offered by Kenny and some other Saddlebred holders. It’s sure to be fun to watch. Kenny added: "We expect the riders may have lots of fun riding the best that the American Saddlebred has to offer: the 5-Gaited horse!"  Come and see the action. The mini season starts at midnight. Divers with black water suits and tanks swim along in front of homes on the water. They’re capturing the lobsters that lie in the rocks under our docks. A couple of times over the years I have gone out in the center of the night with a flash light. As one of these scoundrels could swim by, I flashed the light on him.
