Walleye move to spawn in early spring. This is the best time of year to pursue these fish, and they’ll strike live minnows and worms, or jigs tipped with brightly colored soft plastics. Fishing for white bass and crappie is at its best in April and May. Bass fishing is possible through summer. Look for smallmouth bass in rocky regions just outside heavy current; largemouths favor still backwater regions. You may be able to catch catfish in deep regions, particularly in May and June when the water is on the rise. (traveltips.usatoday.com)
That said, the Osage River upstream from Bagnell Dam to as far west as the Kansas line is the place to be in April. That s not exactly fishing s best-kept secret, . To the opposite, no vacancy signs on motels, overflowing launch ramp parking lots and waiting lines at restaurants are the rule. Seeing flotillas of boats nearly close enough to walk across isn t strange either. That s particularly true on the stretch of the Osage River/Lake of the Ozarks from the U. S. Highway 65 bridge at Warsaw east to some number of miles downlake from the mouth of Deer Creek. (gameandfishmag.com)
Regions where from the turbines hold the best concentrations of whites, discloses Rich Duncan, a long-time Osage River fisherman and former owner of Riverview Campground. The most productive lures for fishing the spillway include crankbaits, like Shad Raps and Rat-L-Traps in shad patterns or 3-inch Sassy Shads in blue-and-white or argent-and-white color mixes. The size of the Sassy Shad jigheads differs based on the water conditions. When all eight generators are running, anglers use 3/8- to 1/ 2-oz jigs on 10- to 15-pound line. If the spillway has minimal or no flow, whites may be taken on Tiny Torpedoes and Zara Spook Puppies or Zara Spook Juniors. (anglersfishinginfo.com)
Year anniversary. It does not surprise me that you have been in business for so long- you sure know how to run a marina. Wally was greeting us with a smile for 2 summers now everyone else is friendly too . The restaurant has steadily good and reasonably priced food. The store generally looks to be open and have what we need the restrooms are something to be proud of . Thanks for great management and having such a well taken care of marina, we appreciate your hard work in making this such a great place to start our weekend. Cheers to another 30 years. Well, it doesn t work that way around Truman, Missouri s biggest lake, surpassing by 600 surface acres the venerable 55, 000-acre Lake of the Ozarks. This is a structure lake, said Collins, who now heads the local guides affiliation. you must find submerged creek banks and hidden humps. That s where the fish are. If you don t do that, if you think you ll find the fish during this woody structure, you may be able to sit around all day and not catch a thing. (articles.chicagotribune.com)
The bass are holding in there and doing what they do best and that could be confusing anglers. It looks like the bass report was a repetition all summer. But then again you may be able to still catch some so its not all bad. So its still buzz baits on the flats in the early morning and channel swing points in the heat of the day. The fish on the timbered flats are to get a bit more violent but it may be the fact that the shad are to get pushed up there with the wind we have had. 2′ to 6′ looks the best with flat timbered points a good starting area. I really think the deep water point fish have been in the same places all summer its just that they keep moving up and down and we as anglers miss them. (bassnedge.com)
Also to fishing info, Pauley also offers some safety info people should heed when fishing in winter weather. 1st, he advises, it s important to dress in layers, with the outer level being a rain suit or water-evidence type material. He also suggests wearing fleece materials, which may take in cold water and keep it away from the skin. He also says anglers should keep a change of clothes in their car, in case they accidentally fall in or in case the ship they re using info over. If you fall in, you may literally only have minutes to get back to the car and get some dry clothes on before hypothermia sets in, Pauley cautions. (news.visitmo.com)
Our fishing guide service is recognized to offer professional guided fishing trips. With years of tournament fishing I can show you the new methods, baits and tackle to get you the best trip on the lake or river. I was the 1st guide to start guiding on the Osage River and have had a Jet ship built to run exactly in the shallow water. This ship is 21′ long and has a 250 HP motor to get us down the river and back. I have a 19′-6 bass ship with a 200 HP Yamaha motor for the lake; this ship can give us a nice ride on the lake. I have fished mos all the lakes and rivers in Missouri at one time or another. (Get more)
The epitome of a trophy-catfish fishery is that part of the Red River running from the North Dakota/Minnesota border north of Fargo, N. D, to Lake Winnipeg in Manitoba. The average channel catfish here could meet the criteria as a trophy fish in most other waters, particularly those from the 25-mile stretch below Lockport Dam in Selkirk, Manitoba. Analysis have shown the average catfish caught here weighs more than 19 pounds, and 92 of the cats are more than 30 inches long. Hookups with 17- to 25-pounders are common; fish under 10 pounds are rare. Fishing does not end till the bait runs out or anglers have a case of terminal tendonitis. (About the topic)
Now our best crappie fishing was below the dam, and there are some nice walleye being taken off the rocks in the current below the dam. The crappie are in the creeks and coves just off the current of the major river. We’re finding the fish to be suspended at depths of 7 to 12 feet over water that’s 8 to 14 feet deep. Best pattern was vertical fishing a 1/4 oz Bob Bates jighead red or pink in color tipped with a SWARM jig body. Best jig body colors have been black and chartruse and pink and chartruse. Set your jig depth at 7 to 12 feet you must experiment each day to find the best depth that’s holding the most fish and troll along as SLOWWWWWWW as possible over 8 to 14 feet of water.
