As the move to deeper water and structure. In big reservoirs, you'll frequently find fish at or near the thermocline 25-35′ . Rocky points, shorelines and drop-offs near submerged river channels are prime places. In streams, deeper pools with submerged logs and boulders are a great place to start your search. Summer months can supply some of the most consistent fishing patterns and action. It’s throughout this period that walleye readily bite during the day and frequently best throughout the mid-day hours. (brookvillelake.com)
Walleyes. The 14 inch minimum went into effect in 1996 because last rules allowed anglers to harvest stocked walleye before they could reach their growth possible. Fishermen were harvesting many 1 and 2 year-old walleyes that were only 8 to 12 inches long. To offer an opportunity for the fish to grow bigger, fisheries officials produced the 14 inch minimum size. Sport fishermen led the call for the size bound. Nearly half of the anglers questioned in a 1994 statewide angler survey supported or strongly supported a minimum length bound for walleye. The 14 inch minimum length bound applies to all waters except the St. (indianawalleye.com)
Walleye are in the fall as the water cools down. If walleye are suspended, cast or troll your crankbaits so they run at the same depth or just above the depth they’re holding. If they’re in shallow water, use a crankbait that dives a little deeper than the depth of water you re fishing. This will because the crankbait to root around, stirring up the bottom, and act in an erratic fashion as you retrieve it. This looks to stir the feeding instincts of walleye. (bigindianabass.com)
Tom Bacula also supervises the fisheries at Cook and Holem, and he likes these small, interconnected lakes 93 acres and 40 acres, in that order for hot bluegill action. Recent surveys have shown bluegill dominating the catch at both lakes, he said, ranging in size from 1. 6 to 8. 7 inches in length. Public access for Cook and Holem lakes is on bordering Mill Pond, via a culvert, which small boats may navigate. (gameandfishmag.com)

Species Found: Lake species include walleyes, LM Bass, Perch, Crappies and Catfish, however the real attraction here is the stretch of water that runs approx. 2 miles from the Dam to the Whitewater river that’s a trout fishery. Rainbows are stocked here in the Spring and Fall as part of the Indiana Trout Stocking Program. Recently the Central Indiana Trout Unlimited, Chapter 699, with permission from the Indiana State Wildlife Agency, IDNR was stocking small Brown trout to see if they’ll holdover from year to year. So far the results are promising and there are some holdover fish from past stockings. (thebrookvilleinn.com)

Throughout the summer recreation season all idle and constrained zones are marked. Watch these regions for your boating safety. Launch permits are obliged by the state of Indiana and can be bought at each ramp or the Mounds Recreation Area Office. There are nine concrete ship launching ramps with parking lots located around Brookville Lake for easy access. Six of these ramps are located on the eastern side of the lake and available from State Road 101. (ohranger.com)
Most water bodies carrying do-not-eat intake advisories for all species are streams. The fish intake advisory has an broad list of rivers and streams that have species with group 4 and 5 intake advisories; but, many streams contain species with low levels of contaminants. Some number of of the big fished rivers that have some group 4 and 5 species are listed. Many of these rivers and streams contain some good catch-and-release fisheries. (eregulations.com)
I fished Brookville Lake from the shore back in the 90’s. I did not have a ship so I was restricted to shore fishing. THE hot time of the year is May, right up on the dam. It is 800 yards of riprap with a road across the top, parking on each end. Although the walleyes are stocked first, the lake is deep enough 100’+ at the south end with enough rock on the dam, the walleyes started naturally reproducing. So the DNR closes the dam throughout April to harvest eggs from walleyes for their hatcheries. Come May, fishermen can get back on the dam and the bite differs like it does anywhere . My best catches and I have had few nice ones there come from throwing AC Shiners and shallow-running Shad Raps right down the bank along the shore. (bassresource.com)
