1.  Make the external rod holder easier to replace the rubber / elastic strap as I am sure it’ll be a ache to replace once it gets dry rot and falls separately.   I am sure I can rig up some bungee cords but it’ll not be as secure and I use the term loosely in comparison.   A good alternative could be to use a locking ski rack as the other part instead of the one provided.
