The Feelers Fishing For Lisa Chords

Tell me to Lisa. It is a summer of heartbreak and the Feelers have a theme song for it, a lament for the long-lost Lisa. The video sees the band enjoying a summer holiday. They have a Kombi van and have been joined by three model-like women, one of whom we can assume is Lisa. Two years have passed and the feelers return with the hard and heavy album. Weapons of War, bigger Than Life, Supernova, Stand Up. You do not have to know these songs to know these songs. Books can frequently be judged by their covers. Bands may be judged by the way they look and the names of their songs – but I have never heard the 1st three feelers albums all the way through so I am biting down hard and taking this one, as I did with Communicate and Supersystem, for the team. The trio Matt Thomas bass, and Hamish Gee drums carry a folk-rock essence, adding the sporadic electronic garnish. Supersystem and the single Pressure Man netted them Best New Zealand Band of 1999. For Communicate, the band recorded in Auckland and London with Foo Fighters’ producer Gil Norton, who brought new textures, realizing vocal attributes between Reid and Peter Gabriel.
