Our weather to be unsettled still not too bad to keep us from to get out. We had an upper level Low pressure system pin wheeling around our region for well over a week now giving us cloudy weather, fog and some rain both light and heavy at times. For the most part up till this past weekend the wind wasn’t a factor with usually a mirror like ocean and just a swell or maybe a little chop in the mouth of the bay. Cooler temperatures arrived over the weekend with some pretty breezy conditions and I have for the 1st time since the spring seen water temperatures on the fishing grounds dip and stay below the 70 degree mark for more than a day. The Captains and Crew of the Razorback have many years of experience on the water. Captains Roger and John Quigley are United States Coast Guard licensed captains. They’re experienced in fishing for many of the species of fish that call the waters of this area home. Using different methods and their knowledge of the different species of fish give all of our Rehoboth Beach fishing charters the most educational, successful and fun trip that they have experienced. Boy oh boy, the bass are here at last! exclaimed an excited Tammy Carbohn, Avalon Hodge Podge, Avalon. Some real hogs came across our scale this past week. Ed Shute of Avalon dropped a bunker in the back bay to nail a 36. 52-pounder, Len Warren of Wallingford, Pa, trolled off the beachfront to score a 28. 5-pounder, and Rick and Dave trolled off the Sea Isle beaches to trick up two same bass, both of which were 44 inches in length. We weighed the fish on a Mustad scale and it read 11 pounds, 12 ounces. Joe and I put the fish in the live well of the ship, Googled the closest shop with certified scales that was open, and headed to Bill s Sport Shop on Del. path 1. Once we got there we weighed and calculated the fish and called DNREC Fish and Wildlife. Bill Baker Sr. Let’s keep the fish in the bait tank at the store till Sgt. Troy Trimmer of Fish and Wildlife showed up to certify the record. (Browse around here)

Rehoboth Beach also has been attracting loads of media attention, as area restaurants have extended beyond the common beach resort establishments to creative and gourmet eateries suited for any palate. You will still find the classic mom-and-pop diners, with favorites in beach food, seafood dishes and a distinctive atmosphere. But added to the mix are cosmopolitan eateries with fusion cuisine, international restaurants and chef-owned eateries with changing menus using the best of local flavors. (visitorsguidenetwork.com)
As bench of the event it was my pleasure to put this event together again. It’s generally good to see the families come out and enjoy themselves and enjoy GREAT crabs. So many thanks have to go out to so lots of people who made this event another success. It could take me all night to talk about everyone who helped. Thanks to those of you who donated prizes, we had some great prizes again this year. Those of you who helped work this event, you’re awesome and I couldn’t have done it without you. Most of all thanks to the members of DMS who continue to support such a great organization. Without each of you believing in DMS we could not be where we’re today. (dmsclub.org)
Juvenile and adult tautog are entirely daytime feeders, with feeding peaks at sunrise and dusk. They’re so inactive at night that divers can catch them by hand as they lie motionless on the bottom. Tautog feed upon shallow water inverterbrates like mussels, clams, crabs, sand dollars, amphipods, shrimp, small lobsters and barnacles. Juveniles and adults living around shoreline ledges feed heavily on blue mussels; their flat grinding teeth are well suited for crushing the hard shells of such animals. (neangling.com)
