. Turnout was decent considering that a good number of our club members were attending the yearly Mexico trip to Van Wormer s resort. With that said, those who were in attendance had a great meeting. We held our monthly membership drawing, supported by Southworth Marine, and there was no winner. That means the January drawing will be $260 there will be no drawing at our Christmas party in December . We didn t have many fishing reports this month so hopefully the members who were in Mexico picked up the slack. It did sound like deep water crabbing in area 13 was doing okay and the squid in regions 11 and 13 seem to be plentiful. (gigharborpsa.org)

After passing the Broken Islands, conditions in Johnstone Strait were a 1-2 foot chop. Fanny Island was reporting worse. After some hours, I approached Fanny Island and, as is common, there were perplexed seas, which quickly grew to 4-6 feet, just the point where it’s uneasy. I pushed on and once past Fanny Island, the seas broke to flat calm. My friends behind me were prepared to bail out and take one of the channels north. I suggested on the VHF that they hang in there for another mile. They did and were pleasantly surprised at how the seas flattened out. At Helmecken Island, we had a choice: go north through Current Passage or south through Race Passage – recognized for more turbulent waters. (waggonerguide.com)

– a yearly Tacoma institution – know this all too well. Last weekend, frenzied packs of Tacoma filmmakers dashed around T-town, hurriedly capturing on film all the entries that will make up this year’s manic, competitive filmmaking celebration – set to go down tonight at the Rialto Theater at 7 p. M. Who will win? How will all the compulsory elements – as well as finding something important in a bag inside the 1st minute, incorporating a map, and the line of dialogue, am I supposed to know what that means? – be worked into all of the entries? Only time will tell. (Visit their website)
