Swing Bridge Fishing Park Matagorda

Speaking of history, a French explorer by the name of Robert Cavelier, Sieur de La Salle, mistakenly landed in Matagorda Bay in January 1685. Five months before, he and a fleet of four small ships had set out from France with colonists. La Salle’s goal was to reach the mouth of the Mississippi River, where a new settlement could ensure King Louis XIV’s assert to North America’s western territories. The ugly water and awful fishing had Matula thinking it was time to go home, however Lisa suggested they attempt the Caney Creek Swing Bridge, and Matula agreed to go take a look. The water at the swing bridge was clearer and there was no seaweed. A ship was already parked beside their fishing spot, however the anglers in the ship graciously invited the Matula s to park their ship next to theirs. The ship neighbors had caught two nice keeper redfish and some number of big black drum, however Matula hadn’t gotten a bite. He noticed the other ship was fishing with live shrimp. Trip Details: we’ll meet up at the ICW ship Ramp in Sargent, Tx. And fish the shorelines of East Matagorda Bay. Based on how cold the water is and the tides, we will most likely kick the boats off around 8:00 – 8:30 am. The time will be confirmed previous to the outing date. Sheepshead cruise down the sandbar ledges in groups and you may be able to literally stand there casting continuous as they cruise by. Since sheepshead like your fly at rest on the bottom, retrieved with slow strips, the favored technique of fishing is to wade rather than to pole a ship. A little more up the scale is The Fat Grass, situated in a refurbished lumberyard bordering to the town square.
