Water temps mark by the end of April. In this weather bass will start to migrate into their spawning patterns. They’ll pull off the wood, riprap and points for the favored aquatic vegetation of the flats for spawning. At the end of April and into May, milfoil, hydrilla and eelgrass will be blooming during the river and flats. But, bass favor to spawn in the shallow waters of the flats. The fast current of the river when dam gates are open dictates that bass use the flats for spawning. (gameandfishmag.com)
Tackle for tidal Maryland bass is alike to fall tackle in bigger lakes. Medium spinning spools with 6- to 12-pound-test line, medium-casting tackle with line to 20-pound-test and shallow lures are best. Fish with clockwise from top crankbaits, Texas-rigged soft plastics, yellow spinnerbaits chartreuse works too, as do white buzzbaits and topwater twin props. Early and late, buzzbaits and topwater chuggers produce explosive strikes, while shallow crankbaits work in open water. The bottom line is that bigmouth bass fishing is easy to do and easy to get to on tidal Maryland rivers in fall. we have got quality fish and good numbers of fish, says Bob Lunsford of the state’s brackish largemouth. The Crucial as Frog Rod, meant for tossing hollow-body plastics atop thick mats; but the rod’s extra length and medium-heavy action made it perfect for the big Chatter bait. Afterward in the day I used it to throw a half-oz tandem spinnerbait. With frogs the pole was built to ensure hard hook-ups at long range and it worked perfectly for long-distance strikes with other baits. The Curado reel performed as veteran bass anglers who swear by them know how Curados perform. My casts were long but didn’t require a Herculean effort. (pottsmerc.com)
Hi, I believe it works like this. Your boats O. K. For Maryland waters. You’ll need a non inhabitant lic. But only you may be able to fish on the ship with this lic. Now if you get the non inhabitant ship fishing lic, then each one on the ship can fish from it. But only you may be able to fish from any Maryland shore. Other people you bring can only fish from the ship. Check the Maryland DNR web to be really right. Hope this helped, if I am right. (bassresource.com)
There are some number of factors that make summertime fishing on the flats more appealing to me than the early season. In the spring, fishing for big stripers is frequently a hit-or-miss deal as the fish are on the move, heading to the spawning grounds in the Susquehanna and North East rivers. Plus, in the spring, the flats are frequently seriously impacted by heavy rain and storms, when high, muddy, and cold water on the flats can shut down fishing many days and weeks at a time. In the summer, it is typically easier to find stripers for more consistent action, as they will hang around the submerged weeds that grow on the shallow flats. (guide.sportsmansguide.com)
I can typically estimated inside a trip or two how many times I have been fishing in a year, however not this year. I was good at keeping a log throughout the winter and spring, however in the summer as I went out more, I started grouping trips into complete posts. I think the last time I went out was in early September when I was driving through New England with my wife and dog. My 1st real fishing trip of 2010 was some time on march for chain pickerel at Unicorn Lake. That makes for about a 7 month fishing year. If I had to guess, I’d say I went between 15 and 20 times. Not bad considering I went around 20 times in 2009. (smallwater.wordpress.com)
Thanks to the robust 2011 year class, there was enough striped bass in the Chesapeake Bay to produce great fishing for light tackle anglers of any skill level. Better still, most of us caught fish way bigger than those 17-21 inch 2011 fish. That is because when there are more fish in the Bay, the older and bigger fish have to mix it up with the little guys to compete for food. Thirty-inch stripers in July near the Chesapeake Bay Bridge weren’t strange last year, and late-fall fishing in Southern Maryland was and still is the best it is been in over a decade. That is something to celebrate. (chesapeakelighttackle.com)

The center bay region offers lots of fishing alternatives this week. Striped bass are spreading out at different channel edges ambushing schools of bait being swept along by inflexible currents. There are lots of chumming, chunking and live lining opportunities at the Hill area but other places like Tolly’s, Thomas Point and alike steep edges are now holding fish. They’re on the move although and it pays to be adaptable and to check out different places. Trolling is a good choice in that it lets one to cover more water and possibly bump into some breaking fish action or being able to spot suspended fish on a depth recorder. (salisburyindependent.net)
