Surf Fishing Rincon De Guayabitos

Among the other beaches found in the region is Playa Las Minitas, located two kilometers one mile south of  Guayabitos, near the town Lo de Marcos. This beach measures 500 meters 1, 640 feet long by 40 meters 131 feet large, and is separated from the adjoining beach of Playa Los Venados by a small rock formation. This bustling business center is two miles north of Rinc n de Guayabitos. Along its large, tree- shaded major boulevard are countless stores, a bank, fruit and vegetable stands, and bus terminal. Taxis shuttle between the towns. Though it has a more commercial ambience than Rinc n de Guayabitos, its beach is less touristy. It is possible to walk along the beach from Guayabitos to La Pe ita. The southern half of the beach, called the zona hotelera or hotel zone, is a world separately from the residential north end. In the zona hotelera, resorts and hotels line the beach, restaurants’ tables spill out onto the sand and vendors attempt to catch the eye of vacationers walking the beach. Couples, families, kids and the sporadic dog play in the sand and wade in the calm temperate water, and fishermen tend their nets as flocks of pelicans look on, hoping for a handout. Local buses are available that will take you on a ten minute drive to the adjoining town of La Penita, where a pretty selection of things may be found at the local public market. Rinc n de Guayabitos is a simple and colorful fishing village and resort that sits between the rugged Sierra Madre Mountains and the Bay of Jaltemba. The major work consists in patrolling the beach at night. The working hours are from around 8:00 pm to 8:00 am, four days per week. The goal is to find the adult turtles and gather their eggs, to move the eggs to a protected place called Vivero and release newborn baby turtles into the sea when they hatch. Volunteers will also help collecting statistical data to learn about the evolution of the species. Actions must be carried out at night since turtles don’t go out of the ocean throughout the day because of natural predators, it’s safer for turtles to get out of the ocean in the black . In collaboration with local people and biologists from La Pe ita, volunteers will seek for the turtles, taking care of their eggs and the baby turtles. (cadip.org)

The drive from La Puntilla to Mismaloya is roughly one hour, depending on traffic.   The journey is quite do-able by bus and will require a couple of transfers, however will make for a great day’s outing.   You may choose to "do" Mismaloya in the morning, then visit Puerto Vallarta in the afternoon then possibly eat at one of the many good restaurants downtown.   If you plan travel by bus make sure to check the schedule as buses don’t run late in the evening–the last bus to La Cruz leaves downtown Puerto Vallarta about 9:00 PM. Like close Puerto Angel, Puerto Escondido is another one of the beaches in Mexico that has a great variety of things to do. It sits on an nice bay that is adorned with some remarkable big rock formations. Avenida del Sol Nuevo is the major street, stretching the complete length of Guayabitos. The north end is residential, while heading south takes you to hotels and commerce. Peruse artisan shops showing the vivid colors of Mexico in products like Talavera plates and sinks, Huichol Indian art, Oaxacan rugs, and a large range of jewelry, pottery, and clothing.
