Here s how it works. Wholesale manufacturers pay a 10 federal excise tax on most sportfishing tackle like rods, reels, fake lures, and tackle boxes. A three federal excise tax gets collected on electric trolling motors and certain fish finders. Duties are charged for imported fishing tackle, pleasure boats and yachts. The part of the federal fuel tax attributable to motorboat fuel completes the financial support. These tax dollars are collected by the U. S. Treasury and disbursed to the state fish and game agencies. (eregulations.com)

The area is well-liked for kayaks and canoes, which travel on the North Canadian River/Oklahoma River through the complete wildlife refuge. (oklahomacity.eventful.com)
When the 1st plastic kayak we ever bought started to get a bit leaky, Dianne decided that she wanted to attempt out a longer ship. In the recreational kayaking world, fourteen feet long is big and most Rec Kayaks come in at around ten feet long. Like most longer kayaks, Dianne’s Old Town Vapor Sit-Inside Kayak promised more weight capacity, faster speed and better performance in wavy conditions. Adding length at the waterline, nearly generally has those impacts on performance and the 12′ Vapor is no different. What they do not tell you in the ads is that longer kayaks are more hard to load and carry off the water and slower to turn when on the water. (kayak.oklahomaroadtrips.com)
The Old Frisco Trail begins on the south end of Poteau, the county seat of eastern Oklahoma’s Le Flore County, not far from the state’s border with Arkansas. Most of the trail has a crushed stone surface and you will cross sporadic wooden trestles along the path. The path is comparatively flat and parallels Old Wister Highway through a forested area. On the way to Wister, you will pass the scenic Cavanal Lake and end your journey just north of Lake Wister State Park, a beautiful 33, 000-acre area offering extra hiking and biking opportunities. Note that the trail is prone to flooding in rainy weather, so use caution. (traillink.com)
We had made it into the North Canadian River at the perfect moment, it seemed. The clouds lifted and the sun appeared for the 1st time all day. While Matt and I marveled at our near-perfect record of good timing we have been calling ourselves the Official Masters of Good Timing for many years now, we happened to paddle our way right onto a small riverbank beach. Since the sun had its way with us for awhile that afternoon, Matt and I hopped out to play in the river while Elle opted to stay on shore. She still has not adjusted to life in the water when that water is not the ocean. (bigbluecircus.wordpress.com)

Rose Lake is something of a mystery. It is in eastern Canadian County, on the west side of Sara Road, just south of Northwest 63rd Street. I do not know who owns the land, I do not know how long the lake was there, however there will be seasons, and years, when the area is dry and on occasion placed in crops. The term lake is something of a misnomer, I believe. Rose Lake is shallow and is really a low area that seems to be prone to flooding when rainwater is abundant. But then again, the landowner looks to have the capability to drain the land for agriculture or fill the lake with rainwater. (okc-audubon.org)
Following Johnson’s defeat in 1909, Stinchcomb worked as a landscape architect and engineer till 1912, when he was drafted by the county Democratic Party to run for Cuyahoga County engineer and won. As county engineer, Stinchcomb directed the construction of the Detroit-Superior High-Level bridge, the Brooklyn-Brighton bridge, and other big projects. In 1917, he ran for mayor of Cleveland against Harry L. Davis. Davis’s supporters ridiculed Stinchcomb as the Great Planner and Builder and alluding to his work at the Zoo Bunkun Bill, Botch Builder of Bear Bungalows. Stinchcomb closely lost the election and left partisan politics behind. (clevelandmetroparks.com)
