Fished at Presque Isle, PA in the bay and the major lake for smallmouth bass. Fished from April 26th to May 15th, the 1st week the water temps were in the low to mid 40’s and the fishing was slow. Caught some smallmouth and some nice largemouth in Misery Bay. The 2nd and third weeks were much better with the warming temperatures. The smallmouth moved into the bay and were abundent in the big lake. My friend and I were averaging about 60 to 80 fish a day with most being smallmouth but we did catch some largemouth and pike. The most productive baits for the smallmouth were jerkbaits and squarebill crankbaits. (fishhound.com)

But, the river had 18 inches of visibility and a nice green color on Monday and if the winds are not too bad with the incoming storm at mid-week, you may want to be able to catch fish when things warm up this weekend and the launch ramps are not a problem. There were some issues in Lewiston earlier in the week. The only other not known will be the run-off from melting snow that could create some clearness problems. Stream and river levels have been dropping this past week and are now at common goes for this time of year, which means they’re low and clear. With the light and sunny weather on most days, be sure to get to your beloved fishing spot early and attempt your luck before the sun is on the water. The current conditions with the added sunshine can make an angler s job hard as the fish will be on high alert and spooky. On colder days, the late afternoon into evening may prove to be best time as the water temperatures will be at their highest and can have the fish on the feed. (onthewater.com)
