Squid Fishing Reports Puget Sound

Some salmon weather this past weekend, and managed to eke out some chum or chinook in open regions of Puget Sound. The Hood Canal run size was increased to 562, 000 from a preseason forecast of 402, 369, and southern Puget Sound was upgraded to 420, 000 from 375, 000. This is a great bank fishery since some of the best action occurs along shorelines where chum are staging before moving into spawning regions. (seattletimes.com)

This past Wednesday I had the pleasure of fishing with old time friend Jeff Witkowski of Darrel & Dad's Family Guide Service on Lake Chelan. Jeff was wanting me to come over and sample the Winter Kokanee fishing for quite some time. After taunting me with photos of some remaining catches this past month I made the choice to go. So Tuesday afternoon my friend Keith Yamaguchi and I made the trek over the mountains to Manson. After a good nights sleep we meet Jeff at the Mill Bay launch at sunrise, quickly loaded our gear onto his ship and proceded up lake to where he had found fish earlier in the week. On Jan. 1, anglers can keep two hatchery adult chinook downstream of the Interstate 5 bridge, however the river is closed upstream of the bridge. Also on that date, anglers can keep sturgeon caught on the rivers or bordering tributaries between the Bonneville and The Dalles dams 38-54 inches and between The Dalles and McNary dams 43-54 inches . State officials expect the sturgeon winter season closure date to be determined in late January. (theolympian.com)

Stevens County s two winter-only lakes Hatch and Williams are some catches through the ice, as indicated by Bill Baker, WDFW northeast district fish biologist. Hatch Lake, about five miles southeast of Colville, was producing some carry-over rainbow trout up to 15 inches and others around 11 inches that were stocked last year as fry. Williams Lake, 14 miles north of Colville, hasn t been checked recently, however typically gives 14-inch-plus rainbows through the season. (nwsportsmanmag.com)

It s pier. I enjoy hitting this fishery from a ship, as you may be able to get away from the crowds and be the single light source in an area. If you re going to venture out on your ship, you have to create light. To do that, use 4-6 flood lights and the more light the better. We have been using 2000 Lumen LED flood lights to brighten up the sea. Just mount them to sides of the ship, hook them up to a 2Kw generator and fire it up! You ll want to anchor in 30 to 70-feet of water in an area that doesn’t have strong current. You ll also want to deal with the rain factor by picking an area that isn’t vulnerable to big amounts of run-off. (bdoutdoors.com)

@Nick P: OK so I think we re saying that maybe the event-horizon is passable and maybe was passed at least at scale although it seems WhatsApp weren t really on the verge of demonstrating that although I guess it could be interesting to see how their costs could have scaled per-user for a prolonged burst of exponential growth and if had they got large enough could they have been a going concern or not but I guess we ll never know now $20 billion does seem like quite lots to pay for a company that s about to croak under own weight maybe there was some sort of frantic bidding war of which we’re un-aware? Anyhow as you imply hysteresis if users could pay $1 per month and Truthfully I agree with you that’s most likely still too high for mass-market FB like service it s one thing to switch to that once you have a big user base and quite another to attempt to grow a big user base starting from nothing. I ran into this gem some months back. I frequently fished and crabbed in Golden Gardens but it was filled full of kids and tourists recently that I have decided to look at another spot inside 15 mins. I did a web search and found that "Pier 86" is a hidden gem and that its secluded and particularly gorgeous at night with the views of dt Seattle and West Seattle.
