Just bought mine yesterday and had a great day fishing…. In spite of the 25mph winds. Into the wind, with the correct modifications the reel handled great. Nice distance, smooth action, and it seems amazing. Side by side with the new Abu G. Revo STX, I will be using the Currado more. I own . Some of the old Citica’s I have are over 10 years old and I still use them all of the time. I bought one of these new Citica’s and I’m so impressed with it that I’m going to order me a couple more of these reels. This is the lightest and most ergonomic reel that I have ever owned. Shimano builds the best reels in the world and I’ll never own any other brand. This year’s Chronarch or Curado could be a G series, not an E series, right? The E series Curado from last year is close to the new 2012 G series Chronarch, with the exemption of a somewhat different drag and different paint or so I hear . I recently got a Curado 50E and really like it. If $30 is enough to sway your choice, go with the Curado G. If you like the name and color of the Chronarch E, a $30 difference isn’t much. A question you may inevitably be asking now is what sets Shimano Curado separately from its competitors? One of the best qualities of these well-liked bass fishing reels is the fact that their design is smooth. They’re movable and very lightweight in comparison to other fishing reels on the market for bass fishing. I bought one of these depending on the advice of about 40 different people in the business. With that sort of good word of mouth I had to attempt one and am happy i did. After 2 days and about 30 largemouths I went online and ordered two more. Now I have 3 with 2 paired up with Vertas rods and 30lb braid you could be hard pressed to find a more responsive set up. BTW when the Veritas is paired with a Smoke reel you wil be able to fish all day with no exhaustion. Its the lightest combo I have ever held. I like any Shimano Reel for frogs that holds at least 110 yrards of line and has AT LEAST and 6:4: 1 gear percentage or higher. They’re plenty strong now so percentage may be increased to get them out of the slop fast without really sacricficing a thing in power anymore. The faster the better for me with a frog or a jig reel. I could personally like it if they held a more line like say 150 or 160 yards of 65 lb braid, however the capacity is enough most of the time.  . (thebasscollege.com)

I used this blog as an excuse to buy a new fishing reel today. The reel I bought is the Shimano Curado CU200E7 low profile baitcasting reel. It was really a pretty tough choice as the $150 price range is filled with pretty hard reels. So I did a bunch of searching and read reviews and settled on the Quantum Tour KVD TKVD150HPT, that’s till I saw the price of $300. Well beyond my budget and the scope of what this blog is about.
