– In turnover is usually experienced in the fall and is a phenomenon related with thermoclines. In this case, the warmer level of water at the surface cools down, and becomes colder than or as cold as the distinct level of coldwater below. The result is that the two layers of water mix, eliminating the thermocline and creating a pretty uniform water temperature and possibly introducing oxygen to the lower levels of the lake. This fall turnover action can result in bottom sediments nutrients being stirred up by the water motion, on occasion stimulating algal growth. (azgfd.com)

As if this was not enough, all Mepps Little Wolves have a razor-sharp, perfectly honed hook with high-visibility strike-attractor tube. Together, these persuade more fish to strike while yielding a higher hooking . Every Little Wolf is perfectly balanced to preserve the same acute side-to-side wobbling action at all retrieval speeds. It does not stall when you stop your retrieve. Instead, it maintains its action as it falls. (mepps.com)
Fishing runs in the family for Chris. With his grandfather and uncles all being avid fishermen, it was inevitable that he could grow up involved in the sport. From years of fishing with his family, to the time spent at Camp Fish fishing with some of the biggest names in the business, to meeting Spence Petros at his fishing school and now spending time on the water with him, it was no surprise that he could excel at this sport. Chris is the owner/operator of T-Bone Guide Service, where he now spends 6-7 days a week on the water guiding and teaching people how to fish. (Check out your url)
Striper boils stated last week were visited by more happy anglers this week. Stripers didn’t disappoint if the correct rules were followed. Stripers feed on their own schedule when in these bonus days of high shad numbers. The prime feeding time over the length of the lake was the last two hours of daylight. big feeding events were portrayed by lucky anglers as covering 20 surface acres, continuing for hours, full of big fish, and totally satisfying . Those that fished the big evening boils caught more big stripers than thought possible. The best places were Trachyte Canyon and Cha Canyon in the evening. (azgfd.net)
Kashe Lake south of Gravenhurst offers early season fishing for black crappie and perch right after ice out. Shallow protected bays can congregate good numbers of these tasty pan fish. Cast slip floats with small hooks tipped with worms, small minnows and soft plastic baits. Walleye and pike in this lake will relate to any rising weeds and the schools of perch and crappie. Slow trolling crankbaits, and worm harness along weedlines works well, and a jig and minnow combo may be great when schools of fish are encountered. Muskie are prevalent in good numbers in Kashe Lake but must be released as their season opens afterward in the summer. (northernontario.travel)
This week on Thursday night PBS is running a Ken Burns special on the National Parks. So, since we will not air on Thursday anywhere but we do air on Saturday we wanted to bring you some stories you may have seen before. Either way the 1st story this week is a grouse and woodcock hunt from last year in northern Mi where we really get into the birds and have some great dog work. We then show you a bow camp from yesteryear. This story jumped out to me because one of the guys hunting is using a long bow and that’s what I’m hunting with this year. We have a recipe that’s perfect for deer camp. (michiganoutofdoorstv.com)
Tion in those timeless American ideals of freedom, fairness, and self-sustainability. Today’s hunters and anglers bring this spirit to life in the forests and streams they visit. If not for America’s great hunters and anglers, like President Theodore Roosevelt and Aldo Leopold, our Nation could not enjoy sound game management; a system of ethical, science-established game laws; and an broad public lands estate on which to pursue the sports. On National Hunting and Fishing Day, we celebrate their donations to our natural environment and our national inheritance. (troutrageous.com)
