Bass are late spawners moving into rocky or sandy bays in mid may. The season opens in the fourth Saturday in June. For the 1st two weeks after spawn bass are super violent and will hit anything that moves, and that’s the key. You may be able to catch these fish on tubes, grubs, senkos, or slammers, however the real action is on crank or jerk baits or spinner baits. After the spawn they’ll tend to move to the 1st deeper ledge from the spawning bays. The depth will differ but an average should be about 10 ft. There they rest for a couple of days, then start to eat. They’ll cover lots of water when foraging after spawn so you may want to also. (kenleacottages.com)
Inside a couple of kilometers there was a alike looking bay with the same basic make-up of weeds, water temperature, and mud sand mixed bottom. As we crept into the bay trying not to disturb anything we drifted right over top of a big fish. This was the one we were looking for and could top the scales at 20 pounds. Bob started the hunt with a big sucker and before long the big fish was eyeing the meal. She flared her gills and chomped down on the sucker and now released it. After some number of seconds she grabbed the sucker again, a fast head shake, then released it. This went on for some number of minutes, every time the results were the same. (timeonthewater.ca)

And explore more of the islands in the neighborhood. The Island Queen is a magnificent ship that departs from the town dock in Parry Sound and offers both a two-hour and a three-hour cruise around the Thirty Thousand Islands region of Georgian Bay. We took the three-hour afternoon cruise that explores the outer islands of the area. Passing provincial parks, notable islands, bountiful cottages, and spectacular scenery, the cruise is a great way to use up an afternoon. I’ll admit although, I was most impressed by the ship’s capability to maneuver through the shipping channels, making tight turns and just fitting between different rock walls and shoals. Our group had an amazing vacation at this cottage. There were 8-12 of us over the course of 2 weeks and everyone ages 11-80 had an unbelievable time. The cottage is big and comfy, on the two rainy days inside we never felt like we were tripping over each other. The 6 bedrooms are great – nicely laid out, they sleep lots of people comfortably and have really cozy quilts. The bathrooms are great – there are three in total with one on each level which worked out well for our group. There’s an unbelievable kitchen which was awesome to cook in, enough eating space inside and out to accommodate us, a big great room where we played nightly board games and many amenities inside and out.
