As far you’ll need some mud minnows and double-hooked flounder rigs, both of which can be found in most tackle shops in the neighborhood. After you have found a good spot in the creek, lip hook your mud minnows on the flounder rig, and start trolling gradually. You want your minnows dragging nice and gradually across the bottom. When you feel the fish bite, let him have it for some seconds so he can get it firmly in his mouth before you start to reel in. When concentrating on flounder, I favor to be fishing right at the 1st of a increasing tide. Fall is the best season to target these oh-so-tasty flatfish. (pawleysislandfishing.com)
Hey guys. I plan on going to the Pawleys Island area from July 19th-25th with family and I am trying to do some research on the freshwater bodies of water in the neighborhood. I fish collegiality at Virginia Tech so the bait and tackle side is not a problem. I am just wondering if anybody has information on the Waccama River or bordering bodies? I have read that the river has both salt and new water. How deep is the river? Water temp? main bait forage? Any help could be appreciated. I have been looking forward to this trip for a long time. Thanks guys. (gotomyrtlebeach.com)
If you have a castnet, you may be able to typically catch live mullet in the ocean and live shrimp in the creeks, however honestly, dead shrimp and mud minnows are typically the most well-liked baits because they’re easier to get. By June, there’s typically a truck parked at Pawleys Island General Store at the intersection of the North Causeway and Hwy 17, selling new head-on shrimp. That's a hard bait to defeat. The General Store also sells mud minnows. Just a little more South on Hwy 17, Pawleys Island Outdoors is an excellent bait & tackle shop and they're generally wanting to share information on what's now biting. (tripadvisor.com)
Inshore: Perry s Bait and Tackle 843-651-2895 in Murrells Inlet says that lots of flounder have been caught off the Pawley s Island bridges, and flounder also seem to have made their way about half-way into Murrells Inlet. Some random speckled trout have been caught around Pawley s Island and in the Inlet, and spottail have been biting pretty well in the creeks. Small finger mullet and menhaden are everywhere but they’re usually not still bait size, though in some weeks they should be large enough. (anglersheadquarters.com)
2-26-2011 – Dr Rhett fished today we had a hard time catching fish caused by the NE wind, something that the weather man forgot to talk about in his forecast. Looks like he may have seen the usually cloudy skies and NE winds around 20-25 in his little Crystal Ball, if it ever worked right. : We went anyway and managed to save the day with some Reds and a Black Drum. Rhett had been stuck in the house for some number of week after a Hip substitute and said he was just happy to be out. (Additional resources)
Catfish: Good to good. Captain Rodger Taylor says that catfish usually spawn when water temperatures are in the 78-82 degree range, and with water temperatures entering that range fish are starting to spawn and some post-spawn males are beginning to be caught. The spawn will continue through late June and into July. 1st thing Rodger is starting trips by anchoring on points in the creek and river channels, and on days with current this may be a productive pattern. But, at times it takes lots of patience and won’t produce ? particularly if there’s little to no flow. Drifting with the wind, or the trolling motor on windless days was a better way to catch numbers of fish, and blue catfish in the 6-12 pound range have been biting well. (indexjournal.com)
Nobody rolled out the red carpet, however the 1st wave of silver kings slid into familiar waters just recently off South Carolina’s beachfront. Over the last 10 days, some number of locals spotted some rollers and free jumpers just beyond the breakers between Huntington Beach and the Santee Delta. Some number of local charter captains fishing out of the southern end of the great Strand, as well as Captains’ Newman Weaver, Steve Roff, and Jordan Pate, collectively have connected to almost a half dozen of the majestic fish in just the last week alone. In fact, Captain Pate of Carolina Guide Service went two for three in just under one hour last weekend not too far out of sight of Georgetown’s historic lighthouse. (burlesonoutdoors.net)

That allows you to map all the tagged sharks global. Something interesting popped up when I tracked all sharks for the past two years although. As you may be able to see in the attached graphic, little to no activity was seen from Wilmington south to Charleston. do not know why this is unless it is because the baitfish are just not in this area like they’re at the outer banks. This isn’t to say that you won’t get bitten in Myrtle Beach, however after looking at the map it made me feel a little better about swimming. (jollyrogersfishingadventures.com)
The little river inlet area is unaccessible by shore fisherman, however there are some spot along the intercoastal waterway near the inlet that’s fishable. The highway 9 or 17 bridge dives new and saltwater if you fish at the wrond side of the bridge you’ll need a freshwater license, you’re are catching saltwater species. Few people know this but brackish water striper may be caught under the bridges and structures with catfish, LM bass, red drum, spotted seatrout, and fluke using a 1/2 ounze bucktail and grub.
