I haven't for about thirty years, so I have decided to take this class to refresh my memory and to learn the correct way to cast before I worked on any bad behavior. The class was well worth it. The instructors were knowledgable, friendly and wanting to give expert info on casting and fishing. I greatly recommend this class to anybody interested in fly casting. It’ll decrease the frustration of trying to learn the info on your. And it was a fun day out. (orvis.com)
Maybe I was psychologically shell-shocked, however the thing that really bugged me pun meant was the fly fishing credo of catch-and-release. In the not likely event that I hooked a fish, I wasn t supposed to take it home and fry it up for dinner. Instead, I was projected to follow a prescribed procedure for removing the hook and respirating the fish before softly reintroducing it to the water. All that sounded environmentally correct, and I appreciate humanity s Sisyphean existential plight as much as anybody. But I just didn t see the point: if you can t eat the fish, why annoy to catch them at all? (nytimes.com)
There s the line, the flex of the rod, presentation of the fly in this two-day class. 1st, casting is casting and not catching fish. The instructors repeat that so students concentrate on one step at a time. Day two, on the river, we’re casting the fly to particular regions on the water in an try to catch fish. For the record, I caught three small-mouth bass. The water was too warm for trout. (cigaraficionado.com)

Spent the day at this years Game just and enjoyed it greatly. From the food, to the entertainment the day was spectacular! The ORVIS team was professional and full of hospitality. We did not shoot but we toured the sporting clay course and it was everything I could have projected from and ORVIS run property. The trappers we met we knowledgable of the course and how the stations played out, and though for this event they had a trapper at each station it could usually be that you could have a dedicated trapper at your side to act as a caddie and guide for the length of your trek around the course which was stunning by layout . With its major lodge built throughout the era of the Founding Fathers, Orvis Sandanona serves as one of the oldest allowed shotgun-shooting clubs in the country. Given its history, it is no surprise that the diverse 20-stand sporting-clays course was chosen to host many honored competitions. Lush greenery and wooden fences also extend to both the modern skeet and five-stand courses, where onsite specialists teach the English Churchill technique of shotgun hunting. Also, fly fishing instruction comes in useful throughout guided fishing trips arranged by the staff. The clubhouse’s dining room whose roof beams and wooden accents give it the vibe of a colonial tavern serves as a cozy spot for lunch or dinner. (groupon.com)
