My career Arkansas in 1985. You call it a career? I call it a passion. As a boy, I loved to fish. Every spare moment I had, you could find me fishing. So, it is no wonder I chose it as a career. In 1988 I moved my business to beautiful Lake Norfork in Mountain Home, Arkansas. I have fished this lake for over 28 years, and became experienced at what I do and have earned the honor of being the number 1 guide on the lake. (bigstriper.com)
In the spring quite some bass and striper fisherman are surprised to catch many good-sized walleye. And they were particularly surprised by the different techniques and kind of water they were catching them in. Many fishermen know that if they go up to the mouth of the lake where the river feeds in, the walleye will be there in February through April. What they didn’t realize is that lots of these elusive fish stay near the same regions where they’re found in the summer months. The only difference is, the fish move much shallower throughout cooler months and are on occasion found near the crappie regions. (fishfiddleresort.com)
On our with 6′ 6 Fishing Edge Rods and Shimano Reels spooled with 8Lb Andy Fishing Line. I had never heard of this line and he told it was a saltwater line that he was using years. He nearly entirely fishes with live bait over fake bait nearly 95 of the time. When asked why he simply stated, I have seen what live bait can do. That is why I use it. There are times when the fish go real deep and we have to vertical fish with a Jigging Spoon but other then that it’s all live bait. There are times when he says he’s to troll but prefers not to if he does not have to. Throughout the spring Robert says he usually finds the stripers pushing the banks in 25-30 feet of water and as the summer comes in he locates them from 40-50 feet but as deep as 70 feet at times. Making distance calculations trickier, a brush-choked point projected out from that black shoreline toward the ship. We unleashed our lures in the general surrounding area of the stygian shoreline, intently listening for reassuring splashes rather than disheartening clunks. We couldn t see our lures wobbling nearly painfully gradually just some yards away, however one tempt didn t move far before a vicious beast smashed it and raced for open water, almost pulling the rod with it. Mainly a marine species native to the Atlantic Coast of North America, the striped bass was effectively stocked into many reservoirs during the United States. The species prefers cool, well-oxygenated water and can not tolerate poor water quality. Throughout the fall to spring months, striped bass may be found during a reservoir. But, throughout summer months the fish congregates in the cool, deep water near the thermocline, the transition between surface and deep water. (mdc.mo.gov)
