My fishing decided to take up Muskie fishing and have been researching some number of resources for info. On our initial voyage to Leesville Lake we spoke with many persons who were muskie fishing. some number of had landed fish and were generous in sharing their knowledge. They told us they were trolling or casting these Sisson crankbaits. I bought three of these baits TN Shad, Blue Lightning and Texas Red to use. If you’re going to attempt for the big ones then you may want to be prepared with a 7 to 8 foot heavy responsibility fishing pole and a 20 to 25 pond line. No lake in Ohio produces more muskellunge over 40 inches than Leesville Lake, and these toothy monsters frequently strike big crankbaits and spinners. Casting around weed edges and drop-offs is efficient for muskies in spring and fall, however trolling works better in summer, when they disperse somewhat in open water. Make sure to use strong line and a wire leader for muskellunge. Largemouth and smallmouth bass both swim in Leesville Lake, although largemouths are the more common species.
