Just went out this past Saturday 5/26/12 on a 4 hour morning trip. Things started off slow. None of the boats out there had so much as a bite. Carl and his crew didn t give up! about 2 hours into the trip 3 rods hit now. From there on out we were on fish. We ended the day with 9 mahi mahi far better than any of the other boats we saw at the dock afterward that day. I think the difference was that Carl and his crew weren t going to sit back and cross they re fingers. If we didn t end up catcing a fish it wasn t going to be for a lack of effort. The same group of football players from Monday were keen to put another hurting on some fish on this St Patty’s day that could go down in infamy. Instead of trolling for kings this time, these guys decided they wanted to fish for some really big fish near the shipwrecks. On the Great Day, be cautious what you ask for because we may just give it to you. The trip started off with a monster hammerhead chowing down on a slab of bonito that we put out to drift along in the current. The biggest news throughout the August in 2013 is the run of the biggest wahoo of the year off the Delray Beach coastline. These oversize wahoo will be biting on big live baits and trolling lures fished in conjunction with a planer or a trolling lead. The best depths to target these wahoo off Delray Beach are 100-300 feet, however they’ll be found as deep as 600 feet when the conditions are right. The full moon and new moon periods will certainly be the best times to target the wahoo, as they tend to feed more aggressively throughout the stronger tides that come with them. I have now fished with Capt. Robert a couple times and just recently brought my nephew down for his 1st deep sea fishing trip, the morning started off slow but Capt. Robert's  knowledge of the area he was able to find and put us on fish, Capt Rob was useful and patient teaching my nephew the basics of deep sea fishing.   We caught our bound of yellowtail snappper, then moved to deeper water and started bringing in blackfin tuna, then we finished off the day with a little snorkling Capt Rob knew exactly where to take us where the current was calm so my nephew could get in and swim with the little reef fishes. Team Contender One released 35 fish to take top honors in the trilogy challenge and is the 2007 great champion. Aboard Contender One were anglers Joe Neber, Bill Cordes, and Wayne Savage captained by Bill Cordes. The team won the Islamorada Sailfish Tournament with the release of 27 fish. Throughout the second leg they released 7 fish and the last leg released 1 fish.
