The California Wildlife CDFW and the Fish and Game Commission Commission were informed today by the director of the Office of Environmental Health Hazard evaluation OEHHA that, in interview with the director of the California Department of Public Health CDPH, a motivation was made that Dungeness crab caught on the mainland coast south of  38° 00′ N Latitude near Point Reyes in Marin County not poses a important human health risk from high levels of domoic acid and recommends the opening of the Dungeness crab fishery in these regions in a manner consistent with the emergency rules. I am tossing a range of lures on the flats, and one of my favorite baits to toss is MirrOlure’s Paul Brown tempt in Pink Metal Flake. This tempt has proven to put fish in the ship time and time again. I do not use this tempt when I am down on the south end of Pensacola Bay near Santa Rosa Sound and Ft. Pickens Beach, as that is where the bluefish and more toothy critters live and they’ll take chunks out of the tempt, and at 8 bucks a pop it can get expensive . When I am fishing those lower regions I use hard MirrOlure baits like the Top Pup or Top Dog Jr. Another great tempt to toss out for trout and bluefish is the MirrOdine and Catch 2000. My wife three kids 9, 6 and 4 on a fishing charter with Captain Bryan in early August. We all had a great time and caught many fish as well as a stingray, eel, catfish, crab, however primarily white trout we kept about 40 . He clarified to us the characteristics of each and showed us the stinger on the stingray. Captain Bryan kept an eye out for dolphins and pointed them out to us. I was fly-lining a live sardine when the fish bit and took off full speed, just like a tuna, says Fogarty. The fish was strong, almost emptying the Shimano Torium 14 reel of 30-pound-test braid on its 1st run. Fogarty worked to regain the line only to have the fish rocket away on another spool-depleting run. It sooner or later turned, however repeated the pattern a 3rd, then a 4th time. Wet-n-Wild had a full day charter on Friday. We got a late start because of a bad solenoid on the generator but we where able to fix it, so off they went. Thanks Justin for being patient with us. They caught 10 Mahi by the end of the day. Great work Capt Darrin and mate Matt. On Saturday we had out 1st Sword Fish trip. After trying some spots inshore Capt Darrin moved offshore and on the third drop had a fish on. Wet-n-Wild’s first Sword and for a bonus 2 Mahi’s. This is halibut year we've had in a while. Though it hasn't been the large open kind of bite we had four-five years ago, at least in going out for for the great greedy doormat of the Bay Area, you don't feel like you're wasting your time that's what they tell me anyway. Unfortunately for the shore fisher the hottest bite was out at the North Bar just outside the Golden Gate and off of Seal Rock. I've eaten more halibut this year than ever before. Fishing for speckled trout is what Santa Rosa Sound is best recognized for. At anytime of the year the sound can create a good stringer of fish. Summertime produces more fish, however the average size is much smaller. Most of the sound is made up of brown, sea-grass bottom. This grass is home to loads of small baitfish, which, the bigger fish feed on. Equally important although, the grass keeps the oxygen level up and filters the water, which in return, is the reason why the water is very clear most of the year.
