Head out Fishing Tournament for a day of fishing fun. This family friendly event is held at beautiful Lake Thunderbird in Norman. All anglers with a valid Oklahoma fishing license are welcome to join in, so set your alarm early because registration begins before the sun comes up. Anglers can fish from docks, boats and the shore at Lake Thunderbird, and all fish must be caught from a rod and reel or pole. Winners of the event will take home bragging rights, cash and prizes. 1st place Big Bass in general honors and $30, 000 went to Wayne Misner of Owensville, MO. This man has a story to tell. 1st he’s retired 5 years now and 67 years old. Wayne said he fishes only 5 tournaments a year. Get this; this is 1st tournament of 2011 and the 1st time this year his ship was in the water! Wayne stated he went to his favorite spot, the 1st long cove on the left up the Osage. He pulled out of his rod box a pole that had not been used in a year. The pole had bait already tied on from a year ago. It was a deep diving crank bait green/white/red in color. Wayne stated they were fishing a long stretch of chunk rock. (724outdoors.com)

Our 1st yearly fishing tournament, to be held at Lobdell Lake on the 18th of August, 2012, will find us being joined in support by the MDA!  Fishing will begin at 6:00 A. M. All players in Montana fishing tournaments will be asked to cooperate with Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks in the tournament prerequisites that all boats be washed previous to launching. Making sure that all boats are clean of any plants or animals previous to being launched will assist to prevent the spread of aquatic nuisance species. At some tournaments, Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks staff will perform ship inspections. The inspection will assist to prevent the spread of aquatic nuisance species. At the tournament this weekend at Oneida Lake in New York I finished in 1st place with a two-day total of over 30 lbs of bass. This is my 1st win of the year. I’ll be looking forward to the next tournament on Saratoga Lake on July 20. My year-end goal is to win Bassman of the Year Honors for Albany Area Bassmasters and also secure a place in NYS Club team championship in 2014- the gateway to the Bassmasters Classic.
