I firstly reviewed the Vertical tempt Creature ‘X’ in green pumpkin unfavorably. This review updates that one. We were on the water by 6:30 and by 7:00 we were off the landmark know locally as the "island". The sonar showed some number of fish near the bottom at about 14. 5 feet . I had prepared 4 rod for this trip. One had a green 3/8 oz. Football head jig with a green pumpkin Creature ‘X’ on it. I cast it out and allowed it to fall near the spot where the sonar indicated the fish may be staged. I allowed the jig to hit the rocky bottom and bounced it off the rocks. (fishhound.com)
But the old bromide, ‘do not judge a book by its cover, ‘ comes into play here. Budd Lake has a healthy, thriving population of smallies also as bigmouth bass. In fact, there’s a story among fisheries biologists and the local fishing population about an angler who hooked and landed what could have been a state-record smallmouth while fishing Budd Lake, however he refused to register the fish caused by the publicity it could have generated. You see, the angler I am told, called in sick to work that day, and he had a choice between keeping his job or being touted in the local newspapers as the man who upset the current smallmouth record. Bob Papson, a biologist at the state’s Lebanon Fishery Laboratory, has been involved in the walleye stocking program since its rebirth in 1988; no doubt spurred on by fishermen returning from trips to Canada with stories of morning catches followed by lakeside fish fry lunches. We put nearly two million walleye fry into Monksville in the 1st two years it opened, Papson says. We were to get fry from wherever we could to get the program started because fishermen were starting to ask for them. Now, we are putting bigger fingerlings into our lakes and reservoirs. we are generally trying to offer a diversity of fishing opportunities for our state’s fishermen. (njskylands.com)
Striped bass fishing was slow to get started. The fish we have been seeing have been local fish, and the warmer-than-normal water temps have slowed the start of the fall migration. The fall striper fishing is weather reliant, and there’s no question the run will be late, making November prime time. If the right conditions present themselves and winds push bunker and other baitfish up against the beaches while the bass are migrating although our waters, the fishing will be super. If this does not happen, most of the bass anglers will catch will be local smaller fish. (nj.com)

Most catfish are considered bottom feeders to one extent or another. They’ll usually eat anything that can get in their mouth. Their strongest sense is smell which they use to find possible food resources. Capitalizing on this sense is the main weapon in your search for these creatures. Violent catfish have been caught on most types of fast moving bass lures so do not under estimate their capability to catch live bait. (aa-fishing.com)
Totally enjoyed this beautiful park last week. Hiked some number of trails-from simple and paved to some rocks and roots under a canopy of trees. Water sports like renting kayaks and canoes is available, as are nicely constructed kids’s playgrounds. There’s a great Environmental Center with Park Rangers prepared to help and tell you. If you are lucky, you will catch a glimpse of the bald eagles who are now living there. Certainly worth a trip. (tripadvisor.com)
