I firstly reviewed the Vertical tempt Creature ‘X’ in green pumpkin unfavorably. This review updates that one. We were on the water by 6:30 and by 7:00 we were off the landmark know locally as the "island". The sonar showed some number of fish near the bottom at about 14. 5 feet . I had prepared 4 rod for this trip. One had a green 3/8 oz. Football head jig with a green pumpkin Creature ‘X’ on it. I cast it out and allowed it to fall near the spot where the sonar indicated the fish may be staged. I allowed the jig to hit the rocky bottom and bounced it off the rocks. (fishhound.com)
But the old bromide, ‘do not judge a book by its cover, ‘ comes into play here. Budd Lake has a healthy, thriving population of smallies also as bigmouth bass. In fact, there’s a story among fisheries biologists and the local fishing population about an angler who hooked and landed what could have been a state-record smallmouth while fishing Budd Lake, however he refused to register the fish caused by the publicity it could have generated. You see, the angler I am told, called in sick to work that day, and he had a choice between keeping his job or being touted in the local newspapers as the man who upset the current smallmouth record. Manasquan County Reservoir was intended with anglers in mind. When the lake was being constructed, stumps were left at the bottom of the reservoir and trees were preserved at the water’s edge to offer fish with an ideal habitat. Gravel was spread at the north end of the reservoir to offer a spawning area for bass and sunfish. Upon completion of the reservoir, it was stocked with largemouth bass and smallmouth bass by the New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife. The Division afterward also stocked the lake with tiger muskie. The reservoir receives a ranking of excellent from the Division for its population of bass, crappie, and sunfish. (lakelubbers.com)

There’s a five-mile perimeter trail, partly in shade, for hiking, biking, running, horseback riding and wildlife study, and the reservoir may be used for fishing and boating electric motors only . A Visitor Center and Environmental Center supply info on the park. (anglerweb.com)

Lakes and ponds are in excellent form; but, water temperatures are above normal for this time of the year, and this should keep the live-lining good well into the month. Once the water temps start dropping, the key to fishing lakes and ponds will be the decaying vegetation. The afterward in the month, the more you’ll want to concentrate your bass fishing around the left over vegetation, particularly in the afternoons when the water will be warmer and when some warm days and breezy weather present themselves. Crappie fishermen will find the better fishing in the late afternoons throughout the 1st part of the month and more towards the center of the day afterward in the month. (outdoormigration.com)
He never picked up a cat there before. Some pickerel hit in the Toms River at Trilco, the closed building supply. No sign identifies the building, however locals know the stretch by the name, located near Garden State Parkway. Farther upstream on the Toms, a friend totaled five trout near the tree farm in Jackson or the Forest Resource Education Center. Another angler tried for trout at Deal Lake but got skunked. No news was heard from Manasquan Reservoir, Jeff said when asked. Murphy s, located on path 37, recently bought Go Fish Bait & Tackle on Fischer Boulevard in Toms River, and is running both stores. The Union Transportation Trail was once the Pemberton & Hightstown Railroad, a short line right-of-way established in 1864 to offer dairies and farms access to bigger railroads at connections in Pemberton Burlington County and Hightstown Mercer County . The railroad began operating in 1868, traveling through Hornerstown, Cream Ridge, Davis, Imlaystown and Sharon in Upper Freehold Township. Passenger service finished in 1931, however freight service continued on sections of the line till 1977. The right-of-way was assumed by Jersey Central Power & Light and in 1998, the Park System acquired a permanent easement from JCP&L for trail use. (Click here to find out more)
