Mallard Lake Dupage County Fishing

Watercraft must of Natural Resources registrations and Forest Preserve District private-boating permits. A steel lockbox is available along the trail to gather fees for daily District permits. Yearly permits are available through Visitor Services at District headquarters in Wheaton weekdays between 8 a. M. And 4 p. M. Mallard Lake is an 89 acre man-made lake with a maximum depth of 25 feet owned by the Forest Preserve District of Dupage County. The lake is managed under a cooperative management agreement with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. There’s an island with bridges connecting two sides of the lake. There are two handicapped available fishing piers and some number of access paths. Carry-in boats under 20 feet are allowed no ship ramp is available . No gasoline powered motors allowed. Mallard Lake is part of the DuPage County Forest Preserves and has went through big renovation since 2009. The entrance was totally rebuilt and broad shoreline restoration has taken place. What used to be only a few of shore fishing access spots has increased to a vast most of the complete lake. This place has plenty! There's lots of room for people to spread out & although there were lots of people enjoying the park, it didn't feel crowded at all. lots of parking, lots of shoreline around the lake for people to fish and lots of meandering large paths. There's also lots of wildlife to watch. And since it was fixed up & restored not too long ago around 2010 all the paths and bridges are in great form. They have a couple of little walk in launches if you want to bring your canoe or kayak. (yelp.com)

The campground at Blackwell Forest Preserve is open only on Fridays and Saturdays between May and September and on some extra days throughout holiday weeks. Extra camping buildings are located at Greene Valley, Herrick Lake, Pratt’s Wayne Woods and Waterfall Glen forest preserves, however these campgrounds are only open to youth groups. Herrick Lake – This body of water is on the south side of Butterfield Rd. Rt. 56 roughly one mile west of Naperville Rd. In Wheaton, Illinois. This is another great hot spot for fishing in the neighborhood. Recognized for a large range of fish species and very big bass. Herrick Lake also holds crappie, catfish, sunfish and bluegill. If you’re the kind that just likes big fish you may be able to most likely find a 40 pound carp.
