The gas closed in the sixties and the original cabins were torn down, leaving 9 cabins on Little Bay De Noc. The wooden boats were replaced with aluminum boats. Guest were able to rent a 12 inch black and white TV for a dollar extra a day. Todays fishermen enjoy heat and air conditioning from a thermastst rather than having to light an old oil burner for heat and relying on fans to keep you cool. There are hot water heaters in the cabins. The original cabins had one coal fired hot water heater for all the cabins. Blue House on the Lake is situated on Little Bay de Noc. This home is newly remodeled and offers scenic views with access to the lake. It sleeps 6 comfortably but as many as 8 people have stayed in the rental with use of the pullout sofa bed and futon. Located on a private drive between Gladstone and fast River, 10 miles north of Escanaba. The Days river is just north of the property and available by car or water. . Anglers are fishing as far south as Portage Point, however open water starts around the Breezy Point so use caution in these regions. Ice conditions were good in the northern bay, however not as good near Portage Point. Saunders Point had a big area of open water that just froze over and was considered dangerous. Walleye catches were stated during the bay, however the southern waters were best. Anglers stated just action at the Escanaba ship docks or just south of the Escanaba River in 18 to 22 feet of water.
