Hi Guys, on here after the change. I’m looking for suggestions for sleeper shacks. A group of us are wanting to do this. We have never done it before and think it could something fun and a change of rate. We fish the river around Lacrosse and want to get away throughout the ice season to attempt new water and a change of scenery. Wanting to drive wherever. Looking at a Thursday-Sunday deal. I have read stuff about going out throughout the day and sleep in a hotel at night, but we want to do the sleeper shack thing at least once, just to say we did it. Thanks for any suggestions. "5 star Had never been to ball club. Stopped in to ask for some advice. I enjoy whitefish for smoking and saw a post that they were catching them. Gus told me where to attempt. I ended up catching 17 and some jumbo perch. Right before black another school of fish came in and I ended up with 6 12 inch crappies with one I let go at a little over 15. The Achilles’ heel of the sleeper ice house is its immobility; if you are not over the fish, you are stuck, unless you have your equipment to drill holes elsewhere on the lake. We were not over the fish on this night, at least not hungry ones. This was not a surprise; the bite frequently slows as winter progresses. But, to my break, it did not seem to annoy a rambunctious kid confined to a 10-by-14-foot cabin. Tima and I entertained ourselves with board games, full animals, and cartoons on a movable DVD player I brought along.
