Tobesofkee is owned and operated by Bibb County near Macon, Ga. Property holders have worked on the shoreline on the lower end but the upper end is still comparatively undeveloped above the Lower Thomaston Rd. Bridge. The Bibb County Recreation Department maintains a big area for bank fishing access on the upper end of the lake called the fingers. Tobesofkee also is a nice place to take the family for the day. Started out in the back water at 0900, no beds no action, no bites. Came out to major lake 1130 and the wind had picked up gusting 10-15. Fished long points with flats 3-4′, got 1st hit 6 . Moved to seawalls in the wind and the water cleared, 1st bite was near grass. Second one was a site bite and I reacted to fast, lost him. Continued down the seawalls in between docks and grass on the walls, second miss. Bit again and landed one, went to another seawall and got the second one in the ship. (fishhound.com)
Tournament angler Clayton Batts reports, “Bass are in all three phases of the spawn now with most of the fish being postspawn. Look for these fish to start feeding up to recover from the spawn. Fish the shad spawn 1st thing in the morning around rip-rap banks and major-lake grassbeds. These fish may be caught on a range of baits as long as you see the shad up on the bank. The best baits for me on Tobesofkee throughout the shad spawn are a white Strikezone tempt Master Blaster spinnerbait, a white Spro frog and a white Secret Lures swim jig with a pearl Big Bite Baits Cane Thumper. These fish can still be caught during the day after the shad spawn around lonely brush, docks and grass. (gon.com)
Friday afternoon for 3 hours, I required to leave the office or because death. Went to tobo in Bean. Water 58 degrees. Sunny and about 70 ish. Trolled 6 lines. Caught 4 tiny LM @ upper end of the lake on far right beyond my transition bank and around the corner. Trolled surfacing shad in mid-lake in front of submerged island and the point dock and caught 1 chunky crappie. Caught 8-9 others in island area. (rscottfishing.wordpress.com)
Both campgrounds offer full electrical and water hook-ups, also as disposal stations for sanitary reasons. Lakefront or lakeview sites are available with ship ramps, clean bath buildings, coin operated laundries and a full-time staff of park rangers for your convenience and safety. The campgrounds also offer permanent charcoal grills and picnic tables for campers. All campsites in Claystone Park are paved and half the campsites are paved in Arrowhead Park. Each campground can handle any size recreational car. (anglerweb.com)
Bass fishing is slow. The major lake is still stained. This Richland Creek arm of the lake isn’t as stained as the major lake. Spinner baits fished around wood and docks have been producing well over the past week. don’t be scared to fish shallow. The New Lowrance 3D Technology can shoot all the way to the bank and we can see these shallow fish. Spinner baits with chartreuse in them have been out producing all other. Jigs with a big black trailer will also work on the bridge rip rap or on rocks in the Richland creek arm of the lake. . (Check this site out)
Worms are Glen s and Tracy s favorite baits and they fish both Texas and Carolina rigs. When fishing together they differ what each is using till the bass show them what they want. Glen likes big worms and will typically start with a Zoom Old Monster or a Chompers 10 inch worm. Tracy will rig a smaller worm like a Zoom U-rear on his Texas rig. For Carolina rigs Glen will start with a Zoom Mag 2 and Tracy will typically start with a Zoom Trick worm. (fishing-about.com)
Lanier anglers can expect another excellent year for striped bass. although stripers were exposed to poor oxygen conditions last summer, most recovered and are in great form. The abundant supply of blueback herring, a favored summer forage species by stripers, plays a key role in maintaining a healthy population in Lanier. Stripers made from successful stockings throughout 1998-2000 will range between 10-15 lb. This year and are projected to be a big contributor to the Lanier fishery. Numbers of trophy 20-30 lb. stripers also are rising. Both winter November-March and summer July-August months offer excellent striper fishing. (stripers247.com)
I notice baitfish have totally taken control of the pond. I could not find a single patch of water without spooking them. You could see bass just inhaling them left and right, so much so that they don t have room in their bellies for my so-so looking baits. Every single cast of my pop-r and the landing zone could appear like you hit it with a 14 gauge, shad fleeing everywhere. Every single bloop of my pop-r and same situation. I doubt the bass could see my tempt with the bordering water peppered the way it was with shad. (bassresource.com)
On March 23, 2000, Georgia joined with North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida in issuing a joint health advisory for the intake of big king mackerel caught offshore in the South Atlantic Ocean that have been found to have high mercury concentrations. This advisory was issued to offer guidance on the safe intake of king mackerel to the general public and sensitive populations like pregnant women, nursing mothers, and young kids. It doesn’t prevent anglers from landing fish bigger than 39 inches. (georgia-outdoors.com)
