On April 19, Mike Vosler of Hampton and I spent the day on one of the best public bream lakes in the Atlanta area — the 790-acre Lake Horton in Fayette County. The comparatively-new lake, finished throughout the summer of 1996, was filled and opened to anglers for the 1st time in July 1997. Throughout the three years the lake was open to fishing, it has built a strong repute as a bass and crappie lake. As indicated by Fayette County Deputy Marshal Warren Chamberlin, an 11-lb, 3-oz. Largemouth was caught in May, and a 2-lb. Crappie was pulled out by a bank angler in April. (gon.com)
Key to knowing how to fish grass and offshore structure. Horton is the Atlanta regions number two big fish lake now. It has lots of eight and nine pounders if you may be able to get them to bite. The fish in the photo came from Horton last week and was over ten pounds. The fish at Horton are in lots of the deep timber on the lake also in the grass so you have two choices on where to fish but best spots for both are way offshore. I have been fishing jighead worms, crankbaits, jigs and swimbaits over the past few months. Topwaters and big topwater swimbaits are working on cloudy days and early in the am. (bassresource.com)
Super easy and flat trail but oh so pretty. I’ll use it to walk my dogs on the days that my lab’s hip can not take heavier wear and tear. There’s a ship ramp near by perfect for day use of smaller water crafts and kayaks, canoes, etc. I think this will be a good place to start training my dogs to sit in the kayaks with us since the shore is shallow enough for a puppy to get in and out of the ship. I went on MLK day and it was not bust at all. Some families using the play ground and lots of other puppy holders going for a leisurely walk and soaking in the sun while they could in the center of January. (alltrails.com)
All week we talked about going back and catching a pile of bream again. The next Saturday we went back to the pond and caught one or two small bluegills from the same area that had been so good the weekend before. Back then we had no idea what had happened to change the fishing, and did not realize that the full moon may have had anything to do with our good luck. We had simply hit a bedding area without knowing it. (gameandfishmag.com)

Successful public water supply resources frequently rely on big surface water reservoirs. The capability to prepare, design, permit and oversee construction of these reservoirs is one of our strengths. Examples of such projects include the 650 acre Lake McIntosh Reservoir and group I earthen dam, finished in 2012. The lake also gives the community with unlimited recreational opportunities like fishing, sailing and walking paths. (mallettci.com)
