In 2002 Improvement Program was initiated. The program is a joint project between the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, the United States Army Corp of Engineers, Wildlife Action, local businesses, and anglers. Through this cooperative partnership fish attractors are placed annually at different places inside Allatoona Reservoir. Most of the attractors have been constructed from PVC pipe. Line side fishing is good. The bite up the river is to get stronger each pasting day. Just last week we got reports of two fish over 30 pounds being caught just north of Knox Bridge. With all the rain we have had in the past two weeks I look for a great bite up the river this spring. These fish may be caught on live shad also as cut bait fished on the bottom. Chicken livers fished on the bottom will also work. They’re still some fish on the south end of the lake but your best bet is up north. Mid lake fishermen should fish the mouth of the creeks. Water temperature is in the 60’s and the crappie bite is the best I have seen in a several years. The fish are staying in 12-25 ft of water. It isn’t hard to get a bound of fish. I have been slow trolling about. 5 miles an hour fishing minnows at 8-15 ft deep to get lots of fish this way. Afterward in the day, I’m finding brush in 15-25 ft of water and vertical fish the brush with minnows. This works great. Get out and catch some fish. Anybody can kill a deer. This 5, 850-acre Georgia Power Company lake on the Chattahoochee River near Columbus isn’t frequently cited as a good crappie-fishing destination. But if you look at the data, you will see that Bartletts Ferry or Lake Harding, as it’s officially recognized steadily produces good-quality fish in the 1/2-pound or better range. Brent Hess of the WRD looks after the lake, and his data demonstrate that about two-thirds of the lake’s papermouths collected in standardized sampling were in the ‘quality’ to ‘favored’ groups using the WRD’s terminology . The Georgia Department of Natural Resources maintains more than three dozen fake reefs that supply food and shelter to an array of fish: black sea bass, cobia, bluefish, red snapper, amberjack and grouper. Spotted sea trout and red drum swim the many creeks and rivers that flow into the sea. Where you find sea trout and red drum, you’re probably to find flounder. Pursue both channel and flathead catfish on the rocky bedrock banks in the Etowah River arm of the lake. The many rip-rapped shoreline banks are good regions to target big catfish. Such habitats are common around bridges and fishing jetties. Catfish can also be found in the recesses of woody debris jams frequently found in the backs of Allatoona s coves. These though comparatively new really have been a revelation. The four flavours offer the angler such contrast and mass of uses. Adding to your boilies is a good way of furthering the nice nature of the boilie either just before applying or 24 hours before so the booster can soak into the inner core of the boilie.
