And now for something totally different, last night I went back to using non-laminated fabric and produced a design by Sue Kim that she calls Hobo Chic. I call it Just Plain Mod! The fabric I chose is straight out of the sixties! it’s a lasting canvas weight and I lined it with yellow polka dot with two pockets. This bag is available in my Etsy Shop. As a finishing touch, I added a tan leather button right in the center of one of the giant flowers. All you have to complete this look is a pair of GoGo Boots! Julie, I agree that's hard not to love all the quilts. I had trouble settling on a favorite quilt. After much consternation, I came to the conclusion that now, Cayucos quilt is my favorite, if you asked me at another time, I may have a different answer. Following our color wheel round and round made this week’s color lime. When digging through fabric for this block, I noticed there are two different colors of lime: a yellow-green and a bright green. I used both in my block and more into the post, my Mom only used the bright greens. In this block I placed 12 different low-volume fabrics where the colors were, my grey tone-on-tone where the black was and my greens in between the low volumes. The center on this one took some thought what is it with me and centers? . I chose a lighter lime and an adorable alligator print for the centers and alternated them around the hexagon. Oh yeah. I had been eyeing that at screw! Tucked over with rulers, this unassuming wonder had caught me eye recently. I was particularly intrigued considering how gift-making season is upon us.  I must be honest about myself as a quilter–I'm no math wizard. In fact, I downright hate all that nitty-gritty technical thinking and planning. If someone can do the hard part aka math, well then all the better.  With such a conventional form, I think playing around with greatly graphic or super modern prints help make this seem new. Screw still has some of Jay McCarroll's Habitat line, which I think could be totally awesome and I’m super tempted to pick some cuts to make another. (boltneighborhood.typepad.com)

.   I remember lots of gorgeous slides of some of his quilts and knitting projects, and I also remember a question someone asked from the audience.   The question was, "Where do you find inspiration?"  He sort of chuckled and said, "Everywhere!  Just look around you at all the color mixes that pop up in the world!"  I am paraphrasing here.   To show his point, his next slide was of an huge pile of colored grain sacks at a railroad depot in Portugal or some random place like that .   They were all chalky pinks, reds, blues, greens, and yellows–a really beautiful pile of just grain sacks. The arm was indeed a bit iffy Friday but hey ho, it was still a great day. A great week in fact, and usually all is going swimmingly. That’s till 11:14 pm when the most ginormous spider hurried across the lounge from under a sofa to behind the TV. There was some wine or beer fuelled discussion along the lines of: ‘But he is happy, let him be. ‘ ‘he is not leaving cobwebs all over my house. ‘ ‘do not kill him. ‘ ‘do not be ridiculous, you know I never kill them…’ All this while I am tipping a nightlight out of a holder and grabbing a postcard flower fairies – such a pretty card that I carry it downstairs to recycle then end up propping it on the mantelpiece. When Rachael Rice produced this hand with an eye and curative symbols. I wanted to do something different, something that could have meaning for me. Following the shining sun, soaring with the crows as they float on the thermals produced by that sun has lots of meaning to me. The sun is the most curative thing I know. My aches and pains feel so much better and I love the warmth it gives me and it lights up my world. My hand has a stylized sun and soaring crows with three more crows in my sky.
