We booked Lee and John who was his mate on the ship. These guys took awesome care of us from the moment we pulled up till the fish was cleaned and on ice. Fishing was tough as indicated by the chatter we heard on the radio between the different Captains but Lee had us on Dolphin and Tuna and we had a blast. Yesterday we turtle at Hubbard’s Marina! The Fort De Soto ferry to egmont key pulled up to the island and spotted this cold stunned green sea turtle high up the beach from the water. Angela Gabbert, our inhabitant marine mammal expert trained by the aquarium, jumped into action after 1st to get approval from the FWC’s turtle experts to bring the turtle onto our ferry ship for a ride back to the mainland where the FWC met our ship to transport this poor man back to the clearwater aquarium for treatment! In spite of the passing lonely showers, we were lucky to be sitting in a nice pocket of sunshine and had some great action! We caught our bound on sea trout, as well as 2 gator trout measuring 23 and 22. 5 . We also caught a couple of ladyfish, barracuda, blue runners and a ambitious pinfish which hit a tempt nearly it is size! We fished with both diving plugs and topwater lures, concentrating our efforts around concentrated schools of mullet…and where there is mullet, there is big fish! My husband and I loved our holiday at Lookout Point. The caravan was clean and tidy with such a comfy bed and the setting was unbelievable, what made the outside area better was the choice of 4 different seating regions! Lookout Point was a great central place for all of our trips, we reached Miami and the Everglades both inside an hour and Key West in 2. There were lots of great places to eat, our favourite being Gilbert’s where we saw dolphins and a manatee. If you arrive at Turtle Kraals on a turtle race evening, ask for a slip from one of the servers. On the slip will be a number 1-4. At 6 PM, take your drink outside and root on your turtle. Hopefully you will be one of the people with the slip number agreeing the winning turtle. If not, it is still lots of fun to watch. Winners choose a key with a number.
