My husband booked a trip with a local marina for a split charter to go offshore for a full day of sportfishing. Unfortunately the other people who booked the trip went straight to the Captain and booked their trip. There was a little misunderstanding about the trip being offshore versus going to the reef and wrecks. The other people who booked didn’t want to go offshore caused by the wind situation but Captain Skye offer my husband to reschedule another day but caused by our schedule the next available offshore trip was when we were coming home. The experience on one of these boats is a pretty bit different from one of our private fishing charters on a sportfish. Islamorada head boats and drift boats are set up for drift fishing. That means the ship goes out, usually turns off its engine and everyone throws lines into the water. Do not get us wrong, this kind of fishing may be fun and entertaining, however you probably will not have the chance to catch fun and thrilling fish like sailfish, swordfish, mahi, and tuna, which require special techniques and equipment that are impractical or impossible on drift boats.
