A winter ice-fishing mainstay in Vermont usually was perch. The trick in perch fishing is to find a ‘hot’ hole. In any perch area there are generally certain spots that produce best. I won’t use up much time at a hole unless bites are coming fast. Keep moving and drilling new holes till you hit a bonanza. I’m also fractional to certain lures. For some reason, colors like green or red are tops in shallow water. Silver looks to be best in deep water. Persons planning to ice fish in Vermont should check the rules governing the particular waters he or she plans to visit. Those rules may be found at local bait and tackle shops. (vtliving.com)
We fish and Isle Bays and out on the lake as far as 6 miles. We have a good variation of structure to fish, if it is renting one of our houses, or movable fishing. There are shallow reefs, deeper reefs beside gravel, sand or mud. The ‘Tullibee Hole’ is just 2 miles from our shore line and the Gravel Bars are just West of Hennepin Island which is about 3 miles from our shore line. There’s just about any kind of structure you want to fish all inside 4 miles of our access and we keep good plowed roads to all of them. We typically have good early season Walleye action in shallow, then move out deeper as the season goes along. (lybacks.com)

Add the beauty of your surroundings with the adreneline rush of a 20 pound lake Trout and you’ll learn why ice fishing became wintertimes’ most well-liked sport. (fishlakegeorge.com)

For your bait, use a sounding weight. Clip the weight on the hook and lower your line till it hits the bottom, clip on a tiny bobber or line marker to mark your line where you want it to be on the tip-up spool. This "sounding technique" will take some practice but when perfected will make it simple for you to see if a fish has taken line, or after checking your bait you may be able to easily put the bait back to the correct position without sounding again. I ve fished the year round all of my life from Quebec, Canada down through Vermont and upstate New York on Lake Champlain and west to the Great Lakes and I can honestly state that some of my best fishing experiences have been on the ice. Winter is a time when majority of people want to hide indoors but ice fishing opens up a new horizon for safe outdoor fun. Get your line in the water through that hole drilled in the ice and sit back and wait for that 1st strike. You never know if it’ll be a chunky 1 pound perch or a whopper walleye of over 10 pounds on the end of your line! correct clothing, gear and preparation let you to get right up close to nature and the friendly useful professionals of Lake Erie Shores & Islands are generally available make your ice fishing experience the best. Just to the east of Green Road is some of the deepest water in the basin, and that is where you are most probably to find winter perch, walleyes and pike. All three species have been making a good comeback in recent years. An violent program for removing white suckers from the lake looks to be paying dividends, because game fish are making a comeback. Alternate-year stocking of walleyes was successful, and winter anglers take lots of ‘eyes in the 16- to 24-inch range. Spotting a lively shiner minnow on a tip-up or Slammer — or jigging with a spoon — along the 15- to 25-foot contours may be productive. (gameandfishmag.com)
The lower level walk out to the lake is Station’s Party Place! It has a full bar complete with dishwasher, refrigerated ‘kegger’ keg not included, and ice maker. there’s a pool table and ping table for your enjoyment also as a small library area okay, may that is not party stuff and a rare group of 60’s & 70’s LP’s for your use. The cozy seating area beside the bar has a gas fireplace with DirecTV – the perfect place to watch the Packers or the Bears or Vikings or Lions – this just hurts too much, I must stop! . The bathroom on this level has a walk in shower. The bedroom which many use as the kids’ room sports 2 log bunk beds with twin and full sized beds and a day bed with a trundle also as a big walk in closet. (plumlakedressage.com)
