Have you look for line turn or tangles? If not, certainly do that. Spincast reels are pretty notorious for having issues like this, particularly the cheaper ones. If you bought the reel with line already equipped, I greatly propose taking all of that off and putting new line on it. Most of the line that comes on reels is poor quality line, which is more prone to to get twisted and tangled. I like Stren fishing line myself. (answers.yahoo.com)
The Omega spincast reel conditional on the tried-and-true format which can be commonly for this Zebco company. An uncomplicated still durable design with easy to operate features decide this the reel with which many persons learn to seafood. Although the Omega may be tough and long lasting, it’s necessary perform basic routine maintenance including correct oiling so your reel will will begin to operate properly. (Get redirected here)
Zebco, a well-recognized name in the fishing business, produces a complete line of spincast fishing reels. The spincast reel is alike to spinning reels, except that the spool of the reel is totally enclosed under the front cover. The fishing line passes through a hole in the cover and attaches to a spool underneath. As the angler cranks the reel, a spinner head inside the reel grabs the fishing line and winds it onto the spool. Putting line on a Zebco reel is comparatively simple and takes only some minutes to achieve. (livestrong.com)
I admit not to taking care of my reels but than again my reels cost on average 30/40 dollars. I did buy a refurbished Quantum EX 500 about 15 years ago from Zebco. After about 3-5 years fishing with it I have decided to clean it. I begin taking it separately and found that one side could not come off, There were two screws that I knew required to be removed but was scared to not knowing what may pop/fall out, then not being able to put it back together, I cleaned what I could and forced grease into the drive gear not knowing that I was to get some grease on the drag disc. Over the next 3-5 years the drag begin to slip. (fieldandstream.com)
It is important be aware of the particular use of each lubricant. Three or more types may seem like overkill but each performs a particular job and they do not work well outside of the scope of their meant use. Grease is a paste lubricant and essential for major gears. Anything lighter will sooner or later drip off and supply no lubrication. On the other end of the weight spectrum is reel oil. This is low viscosity stuff and is meant to seep inside the seals of bearings. Corrosion X is a general lubricant that has the great benefit of defending metals against corrosion. I use Corrosion X on all metal parts outside of the reel and some interior parts that I feel may experience salt intrusion. (scsurffishing.com)
I like to make a habit of laying the parts on the side upside down and in the order that they’re taken off. This is jsut good work technique and will minimize to get them back on incorrectly. But be aware that the orientation of each part can make a difference in the correct function of the reel. Next off is the keeper nut over the spool housing. It seems to be intended to use a coin. It’s pretty soft so attempt not to bugger it up. It should come right off. Place the nut in the upside-down bell. Remove then spool housing and set it down upside down in order beside the bell. If you take a moment to examine the bottom of this cover you may be able to see how an offshoot cam and a spring because the line take-up pin to also retract and extend with each spool revolution as the crank is turned. True classic American fishing reel! The Zebco 33 was mentioned in the Johnny Cash Movie Walk the Line! While I use usually spinning, fly-fishing outfits and baitcasting reels, I do maintain a couple of closed faced reels in my arsonal. The Zebco 33 is my favorite! While I’m not sure they’re as tough as the old variants I had as a kid, I do like the bigger crank handles on the current one so there are noticable enhancements on the new 33s. I also bought a combo Zebco 33 rod and reel for my little girl. They’re easy to use and I have landed some tough fish with the to include Northern Pike in Minnesota when I was a kid.
