You drive same way you could as if you were turning to Bartlett Lake. But you turn off to the left on Srv Rd 205 about 15 minutes before you reach Bartlett Lake. This Rd Srv 205 is paved for a little while but then it turns into dirt. Its a real washboard road with washouts from the rain. Theres also a part of the river that runs across the road just before you reach the dam that may be pretty hairy to cross when its been raining. A 4 wheel drive is suggested. Here are the directions to Bartlett: (hookedaz.com)
Biologists from both Arizona Game and Fish Department and Nevada Division of Wildlife with the help of volunteers, National Park Service, Arizona State Prison-Kingman Complex and Bureau of Reclamation staff have continued to install fish habitat in Carp Cove, Box Cove, Shoshone, Princess and Arrowhead. Prospect Cove 1st cove south of Princess Launch Ramp is the new addition on the Arizona side of the lake to get habitat deployed. Fish habitat consists of PVC structures, tamarisk bundles and a new kind of habitat we call poly shrubs. The largemouth, smallmouth, bluegill and catfish are really using the new structures. Thermoclines in broken down, so the deep water that had no oxygen throughout the summer now has as good of water quality as that at the surface. Trout will be where the food is now that they aren t restricted by water quality oxygen, temperature, pH . If they’re feeding on zooplankton, they’ll be in the upper layers of a lake where the sunlight penetrates well. Or they’ll be at the surface if feeding on hatching insects. Or they’ll be on the bottom if feeding on crayfish, scuds, or midge larvae. Or along the shoreline if feeding on minnows. Fish at different depths and places till you catch a fish, then keep fishing that depth to catch more. (fishazblog.com)

Modern Arizona couldn’t exist without reservoirs like Horseshoe Lake, or the canals that deliver water to fields and factories. In fact, Phoenix was settled exactly due to development of canal systems for crop irrigation. Archaeologists assert that the Hohokam tribe settled along the Salt, Verde and Gila Rivers by 300 AD and built an broad system of irrigation canals by hand to offer water for their crops and their villages. The villages thrived till a series of floods destroyed the canals in the 1300s, driving the Hohokam from the area. In the 1860’s, a gold rush in central Arizona brought an influx of miners into the area. (lakelubbers.com)
Arizona is more than desert — we have a lake for each taste. Do you like warm air, skiing, lots of people to meet and lots of room for watersports? attempt one of the big Colorado River impoundments, one of the Salt River Lakes, or one of the bigger lakes near Phoenix or Tucson. If you like more solitude and less sound, head for one of the small trout lakes. Don(t have time for a trip out of town? Many cities and towns in Arizona have Urban Lakes where you may be able to cast a line without hitting the freeway. Many of the lakes in Arizona have hiking trails and camping. Some the bigger lakes and some smaller lakes have ship rentals also, so not owning a ship is no excuse. (azbw.com)
