We booked left for PA since there were 8 of us going together and I read all the great reviews in advance. 1st of all the crew isn’t friendly, when boarding they looked like they could rather be anywhere else but here. They over booked the ship so there was barely standing room, it also said strollers welcome and since we had a small child we brought a stroller which we had to carry up steep stairs since there was not a place to stand down below. We get to the top and realize that we have to crowd by the captains box just to have some space and couldn’t use the stroller we had to fold it up . (tripadvisor.com)

What a fun day! We needed a break from the beach- traveling with 5, 7, and 13 year old boys. We were worried that the 2pm tour could be too hot- but once the ship gets moving. It was great! there’s shade on the major level, with a learning tank running down its center. It is BYOB, so bring some drinks and maybe a snack. We saw some number of dolphins, which made us feel it was worth the price. So, adding a surprise Pirate attack- made it useful! The kids were provided water guns to defend the ship. When we arrived to check in we were told that there was no bay trip going out and that we were booked on a dolphin watching tour. I clarified that we had booked over the phone and gave them all of the details on the phone conversation some number of days previous to coming. I was offered a trip afterward in the day in the heat of the day. If I wanted a trip at that time I could have gone with one of the two other guide services I had contacted previous to Woody’s. We had reservations at the historic Hotel Seward where I had requested to be in the part that dates back to 1905. The atmosphere of the hotel soon made us fall in love with the place. Evenings we staked out seats on the leather couches and chairs in the sitting room outside Ms. Gene’s Place, the small dining room. Years back when striper fly rod records seemed to change some number of times a season, float tubes were home-made from big inner tubes and mover’s straps so we could wade sand bars and float over the mud sinkholes in Richardson’s Bay or on the Berkeley flats. Then i changed to a wooden skiff which I could row from Berkeley Harbor out and around the pier while trolling big white streamers for stripers. A couple of smaller dropper streamers took smelt. Then, if I hooked a striper, I’d anchor out and cast. Every few times I’d luck into a bound of five fish — been a long time!
