An very long fishing pier – it’s a half mile – stretches into the Atlantic. It’s free and makes a great, breezy walk over the ocean, with birds and 360-degree views. We loved watching fisherman pull in their catches. While we strolled, we saw two rays be landed and carefully thrown back, some fish and, sadly, a young loggerhead sea turtle who managed to break the fishing line before a ranger could remove the hook. I really enjoyed this state park! We were walking distance from the beach and a short drive from downtown area. Everything about camping here was perfect. We were able to visit the fort, rent bikes, go on nature hikes and enjoy the beach. Wow! Amazing! My only complaint is that the campsites were sooooo small. We had a hard time fitting our 9 person, our shade AND our kitchen things. The lighthouse, which was close wasn’t open to the public. I could have loved to take a little hike for a view of the beach and the town. The price of camping here was reasonable and the buildings were clean. (Click for source)

Life throughout the Civil War era is recreated at Fort Clinch State Park the 1st weekend each month. Actions focused around 1864, include black powder artillery demonstrations, marching drills, and blacksmith demonstrations. Visitors can see these special living history garrisons from 9 am to 5 pm each Saturday of the 1st weekend of the month and 9 am till noon on the 1st Sunday.
