This product says it is for 8 year olds & up, however it was cumbersome & hard to use. Pressing the safety button & reel cover at the same time was difficult, particularly for small hands. I’d give it 0 stars, except for the excitement of to get the bobber to shoot out. He tried and tried to fish with it but it doesn't work properly. The string was tangled around something on the inside because it wasn't put together properly from the factory. So I think its a poor product and not worth the money or effort. Your son or daughter will be so disappointed trying to fish, it may really ruin a good day. Its hard to operate the gun. I got the bottom part of the telescoping to retract – but in so doing, shaved a part of skin off my index finger. We had it set up to cast! It went out a couple feet and the telescoping locked again.
