Humorous story, the other night I was there all by myself and it was quite peaceful and calm, then literally 3 ft beside me a giant splash and I could see the waves of the fish swimming away. Threw my rig out there a couple of times but did not have the time to change out lures, as it was near closing time and Sheriffs are pretty religious about kicking everyone out. Rodger Marks, Ventura, had six bass to four pounds on drop-shot plastics. Tyranny and Brian Cossell, Oak View, have landed bass to five pounds fishing plastics from shore. Last DFW trout plant went in two weeks ago. Some trout are showing on spinners, PowerBait, and inflated nightcrawlers around the marina, however the trout action has usually moved away from the marina shoreline area with the best bite now for trollers or ship bait anglers. Striper and largemouth action is really heating up thanks to clearing water conditions. Largemouth bass have been taken in good numbers and many fish are showing in five to 10-feet of water. Jason Mathiot, Highland, landed eight bass exceeded by an 8-0 on plastic worms in 10-feet of water. Striper fishing is really breaking open and fish have been feeding heavily on shad just under the surface. Top baits have been Rat ‘L’ Traps or white bucktails.
