I gave the handle on the electric outboard a turn and guided the canoe into the next snagless straight as Mike fired a long cast right up the guts of the creek, if out of frustration or just to clear some line from his reel. I wasn t watching when the 1st boil occurred, nor did Mike say anything about the red flash and swirl he d seen some turns into the retrieve. When a jack around 55cm to 60cm hit his tempt next to the ship, you d must be Blind Freddie to miss the action! Unfortunately, it failed to connect. (fishingmonthly.com.au)

I m not too sure if the moon plays any important roll in making these fish hungry, I generally seem to fish with a more confidence the week before the full moon and haven t had that much luck in the 1st week of a new moon. As far as barometric pressure is worried, when you see the air pressure drop after some days of hot northerlies, get fishing! This sudden drop typically means the rains are hear Marge! And sounds a signal to those Red Dogs to get prepared for supper. This signal is pure instinct and derives from the tropics where monsoonal shower could flush small fish straight into there ambush. Fish from the family Lutjanidae. Other well-recognized lutjanids include red emperor, big and small-mouth nannygai, green jobfish, moses perch and fingermark. Like many other lutjanids, Jacks have a broad distribution during the tropical and sub-tropical Indo-West Pacific, from East Africa to Samoa and the Line Islands. Small numbers of Jacks have entered the Mediterranean by swimming through the man-made Suez Canal, though they haven t become well-establishe$. (m.facebook.com)
A week out from my nieces wedding, the venue at Coffs Harbour went bust taking her deposit I was referred to Phil at Mangrove Jacks. From the 1st minute that we spoke, i knew i could be in good hands as the MC. Phil cleared the restaurant for us and organised everything for us. The food was nothing short of amazing, the service was over and above and i can say that the Bride and Groom had the best wedding reception ever!! I have been in the service business for 25 years and i have never experienced such great service like we did from Phil and his friendly staff. Do yourself a favour. Get to Mangrove Jack’s restaurant. We decided to visit this restaurant on our weekend trip to Coffs Harbour after reading some TA reviews and weren’t disappointed. The setting was lovely – most of tables in the restaurant are located on the water. THe food was divine, beautiful quality seafood and was impressed with the quality of the kids meals which were reasonably priced and excellent quality – my son had the calamari and it was to die for. We indulged in the GF chocolate mudcake desert my husband was a bit hesitant about it being GF but it was up there as the best desert we have ever had! can not wait to go back to Coffs just for this restaurant. that there’s an abundance of restaurants and restaurant's open early in the morning right through till after lunch and frequently serving all-day-breakfast, then there’s nearly as many places open serving dinner. There’s lots of range to decide on based on what it’s that you like to eat and your budget. We have some beautiful bordering towns not too far from Coffs and have some great shopping and local attractions. (feelingostomistic.com.au)
Breakfast bound Mangrove Jacks restaurant a beautiful place overlooking Coffs Creek at the Promenade. A setting by the river with the fish down below the deck waiting to be fed, and nice watching the canoers pass by. Breakfast was tasty, served inside a good timeframe and prices reasonable. The owner, Phill, took great delight in showing off his restaurant umbrellas with the wording Maillot Jaune printed on them and DUBBUG Phil knowing exactly what it read! Yellow Jersey worn by the leader of the Tour de France. (dubbug.org.au)
Northern NSW boasts some great spearfishing places from the shore. One of the best, and most well-liked, shore diving places in northern NSW is Kingscliffe. Kingscliffe is a well-liked surfing beach with a ship ramp, seaway and breakwalls which lead out to three big rock bommies that start 50m from the shore, and end at about 400m from the shore. The three rock bommies make shore diving enjoyable as there’s a reference point for how far you have ventured from the shore, and also a way to keep track of where you’re on the reef. Discrepant the management and some of the staff are moody, have been there and they’re nice then other times they couldn’t be bothered and make you feel like you’re intruding. The food is discrepant, use to be my favourite spot to eat with last management years ago. Generally have the Cajun squid salad – also discrepant since new management have decided to give up and not go there so I wont be disappointed. Such a shame the view is lovely$. (truelocal.com.au)
