The Falls a really distinctive place to fish. Just minutes from downtown Louisville, the fast-flowing water under the lower unit of McAlpine Dam combines with the rocky terrain to form a fish haven. The Falls is best accessed by parking at the Interpretive Center that overlooks the river and walking down to the bank. There are some good spots inside walking distance of the Interpretive Center. When the water level is low and the fish are active, the best bet is walking to the left of the center toward the dam wall. As you may be able to tell from the following photos, the rain came down about an hour into our trip and did not let up. Both Adam and Kevin were in shorts and freezing, a perfect example of why you should not trust the weather channel and generally pack some extra clothes. Floyds Fork stream that most likely will carry heavy canoe and kayak traffic this summer. The Parklands has signed an agreement with Green Earth Outdoors to offer canoe, kayak and paddleboard livery service for the creek. Fees vary from $24 to $71 based on the length of the float. The Beckley Creek Park is one of the most conventional style parks in the Parklands of Floyds Fork system. Located near Shelbyville Road and I-64, Beckley Creek Park has more than its part of outdoor recreational offerings. Canoe and kayak access to Floyds Fork is one well-liked draw to Beckley Creek Park, as is the fishing in the creek and park ponds. A two and a half mile trail on the park is open to both hikers and bikers also. Beckley Creek Park also has the 22 acre Signature Egg Lawn for special events, the Gheens Foundation Lodge, PNC Achievement Center Community Gardens and the state of the art Marshall Playground & Sprayground. Creekside Paddling Access to Fisherville Paddling Access – 4. 7 miles in length.  More remote setting, sections parallel the biggest walnut plantation east of the Mississippi.  roughly 1. 0 mile into the float you’ll meet a blown out low head dam that used to be the water supply for an old distillery.  A small surf wave may be found here when the creek is between 300 and 600 cfs.   roughly 3/4 mile downstream Long Run creek enters on river left.  This is the creek where Abraham Lincoln's grandfather was killed in the Long Run Massacre.  Pay cautious attention when going under the railroad trestle at mile three as debris tends to pile up here after storm events. Beckley offers something for any kind of fisherman. Three of the five ponds are stocked on a regular basis with catfish and trout. The ponds also harbor bass, bluegill, and sunfish. I was lucky enough to be out there when they stocked for trout. My father and I hit our bound both days we went inside some hours. There are some really decent size catfish and trout lurking in the ponds, if you fish I could go attempt your luck. The only thing I really did not like about fishing the ponds is the bank access is kind of restricted and the brush is kind of taking over some spots. The 1st phase of The Parklands the well-liked Marshall Playground and Sprayground opened in 2011 at Beckley Creek Park. The second phase stretches from Shelbyville Road to Wibble Hill Road, and will include two signature road bridges, the PNC Achievement Center for Education and Interpretation and the Gheens Foundation Lodge, all now open. The 17-acre Egg Lawn will open this fall. The 3rd phase consists of the southern part of Beckley Creek Park, which features the tree-lined promenade called the Humana great Allee, and the construction of Pope Lick Park off Taylorsville Road, the second in the four-park system. At that time, the USACE identified extreme levels of cyanobacteria in some number of reservoirs, prompting USACE to issue public warnings to avoid or minimize human and animal contact with algae-infested waters. The DOW subsequently began monitoring some number of lakes in Kentucky and identified extreme levels of cyanobacteria in some number of lakes, which likewise prompted the DOW and USACE continue to monitor lakes in Kentucky.
