Fishing Byng Island Conservation Area

Some pulls and we bunny hop our way over the water and back to the ship launch, a little damper, no dog short and wanting to head to a deeper spot on the great River to attempt again. Two other launch alternatives are above the dam, where more people are fishing and paddleboats are available for rent. It s also near the park s island – the site of permanent RV homes. As indicated by The great River Conservation Authority that runs this park, located here is one of Canada s biggest fish ladders a water gradation that lets fish to migrate past the Dunnville Dam toward spawning and nursery habitats upstream. Saturday morning we decided to go kayaking. The weather forecast had changed and it appeared the thunder showers were cancelled. We launched at the ship launch at Byng and headed up Sulphur Creek. I did not bring my fishing gear as I planned on doing some sight-seeing in the marshes. Dave was intention on fishing for pickerel near the Dunnville dam so he came equipped. While I was drifting near an island I heard a strange sound that turned out to be a couple lost, frantic young raccoons. My pictures did not turn out great, however at least I captured a photo of them. After kayaking for awhile I noticed a storm front rolling in. (sdrvadventurers.blog.com)

Come here months! We get a season pass for our vehicles, that lets us to go to all the great River Conservation Area parks. Its a great deal to get the season pass if you’re planning to visit with your families more than 2 or 3 times in the season. The pool is big at 3 acres! enjoyable for only another dollar a person. My family generally enjoys fishing on the river in the park also and having a picnic in one of the shaded regions. There are great crafts and actions in the park at the major Pavilion for all ages on Wednesdays to Saturdays and most are free with admission to the park! certainly check them out particularly the edible crafts and the dances they run on the long weekends. Conestogo Lake is a Y shaped lake that’s part of a River that goes into the great River. A distinctive feature of this area is the big concrete flood control dam and reservoir enclosed by big tracts of forest, giving the look that the park is in northern Ontario. This is a multi-recreational use park that can be used for many actions as well as camping, power boating, sailing, water skiing, canoeing and fishing. 95 serviced and 86 unserviced camp sites on the lake also as on the Conestogo River. I could like to know why there weren’t extra lifeguards on responsibility to accommodate everyone when they clearly projected, far in advance, all those kids to show up and the maximum pool capacity is 1200 obviously written in big letters at the entrance . I feel the situation was handled badly. Many left and got refunded but that doesn’t make up for the fact that some drove an hour or more just to get there in the 1st place. They should have offered free passes to all of the families that had their day ruined and had to leave and tell their kids they couldn’t go swimming but like I said no buyer service at all. The two-acre pool is one of the biggest in Ontario. It has a wading area and spray pad for youngsters, also as a deeper zone with a diving board. It’s open between mid-June and Labour Day. Hours differ through the season. The pool closes throughout inclement weather. Lifeguards are on responsibility whenever the pool is open. A life jacket loaner program is available. From water sports to famous sights and calming walks by the great River, there’s more to Dunnville and the bordering area than may 1st meet the eye. Dunnville was incorporated as a village in 1860, then as a town in 1900. In 1974, the town amalgamated with the townships of Dunn, Canborough, Moulton and Sherbrooke when the Regional Municipality of Haldimand-Norfolk was made.
