it’s that time of year again when we all come together and picth into clean up Lake RIm. As one of the only Public Fishing Lakes in Fayetteville, Lake Rim became deluged with trash over the years. The Fayetteville Anglers will be conducting a clean-up of the lake and bordering area in an effort to help restore some of the lake’s beauty. Also, we’re hoping to some awareness to the littering problems that exist at this fishing area that so many from Fayetteville and Fort Bragg enjoy. This is a big task for our small group and we’re inviting the community and our fellow anglers to join us in this endeavor. (lakerimcleanup.blogspot.com)
With disappeared from alongside Raeford Rd leaving it, work and most of my worries behind. It was afterward when the park ranger clarified that there are no rockets allowed. So we finished the day walking along this little path discussing "our dreams" or what we plan to do in the coming year. On occasion, laughing and sometime yelling at the kids to slow down as the disappear along the wooded walk. Sooner or later, we just popped outs some where and found or way back to the car. It was a quite get away on that 1st day that I visited, however that isn't generally the case. (sandhillsvirtualtours.com)

I visited the park recently for a toddler’s birthday party. The scenery is beautiful and serene. There are charcoal grills for cooking and covered shelters with picnic tables at which to sit, eat, play games and talk. The restrooms are connected to the shelters which make it a nice place for grandparents to come for an outdoor activity. There are soccer fields, kids’s play spaces, and the parking lots are plentiful. On the day we visited Sunday afternoon, there was no trash in the parking lots or on the grounds as stated by a last reviewer. This is a "make your entertainment" kind of venue. (tripadvisor.ca)
The late 1970s found William Carrier, David Taylor, Harry Blackwell, George Griffin and Anthony Cabeza at the helm as Scoutmasters. Little info is available from 1968-1981. Daniel Ptaszynski was the Scoutmaster in 1980-1981. Unfortunately in May 1981, the Troop disbanded or opted not to recharter reasons not known . In December of 1986, the troop rechartered under the management of Steve Runkle. He served as Scoutmaster till December 1987, when his brother Dave Runkle took over. Dave served as Scoutmaster for the longest period to date, with more than ten years of service ending in June 1999. (troop747.mytroop.us)
About a week or so ago the seventh grade at HCCMS went on a field trip to the John F. Pechman fishing center at Lake Rim. That’s the 1st fishing trip I’ve ever taken and it was so much fun. I learned lots. Before we went fishing we were put into groups and took a few classes. In those classes I learned how to tell how old a fish is by looking at the fish’s scales. I also learned they have lots of guts, and they stink. In their guts they have a air bladder that makes them go higher and deeper in the water. Their gills are made of blood vessels. Every summer since 1993, the Summertime Kids program has helped more than 1, 000 youth have life-changing summer experiences. Many of these youth are from low earning families and underserved communities. All donations benefit recreational, enrichment, and mentoring actions for youth in summer camps that are offered by local nonprofit organizations, neighborhood groups, and other community groups.
