Fishing for migratory rainbow trout is excellent from late February till May, and again in the fall from September till the river freezes over typically in late December . Erindale Park offers a year-round open season for rainbow and brown trout, making it a well-liked spot when fishing conditions are at their peak. This stretch of the Credit River goes over loose gravel and shale, offering an enticing mix of pools, pocket water and deep runs. Anglers drift natural baits like roe or worms in the current, or fish with artificials as well as spinners, small jigs or small wobbling plugs like the Flatfish, Kwikfish and Hot Shot. Before European settlement, the salmon run in the Credit River consisted of Atlantic Salmon and their spawning migration occurred in the fall. The abundance of this fish is illustrated by some quotes from early settlers – Two persons in a canoe with a spear and a torch will on occasion kill eight or ten barrels of 200 lbs. Each of salmon in one night . Other stories report being able to walk across a stream dry-shod on their backs Georgetown, 1843, and farms are stated to have been bought and paid for and houses built from the sale of salmon. The Village of Terra Cotta also used to be called Salmonville. (creditvalleyca.ca)
River stretches County till it empties into Lake Ontario. It’s one of the most famous rivers in the country and now holds two big sport fishing records: the great lakes record Chinook at 47 pounds, 13 ounces, and the world record Coho at 33 pounds, 4 ounces. If you may be able to stand to wade in 30 degree water or ride a drift ship down the rapids then the possibilities of catching a bruising winter steelhead or brown trout are limitless. . There’s free parking by the Burnhampthorpe bridge and just a fast hike down and threw a cast off right under the bridge and landed a steel head in about 20min. After a little while not much action so decided to head down river. There was a man made rock ledge just after a small bridge about 5min walk from the Burnhampthorpe bridge that seemed to be a decent pool. 4 hours of steady casting and 3 steelhead afterward I was totally pleased and drifted on back home relaxed and looking forward to a summer full of great catches. Last I fished there you were allowed. Check the mnr regs online in pdf and look it up. You may want to check the "exemptions" part. Caught my 1st salmon there and some nice smalies in the summer. That was 10 years ago. Watch what other anglers say, they’re competetive there due to big numbers of anglers. Carry the regs with you and stand your ground. Fly fishermen particularly are assholes haha, go chuck some spoons!. (answers.yahoo.com)
Every new trout season looks to come with own distinctive characteristics and challenges. Last year it was higher than average water levels and goes and this year it is the polar reverse: some of the lowest spring water levels I have ever seen on many of our southern Ontario rivers. The long cold winter, which lacked in snow but not in record low temps, has left us with some pretty hard early spring fishing conditions. that is not to say that good fishing can not be had, however many holes or runs that could usually hold good numbers of fish have been relegated to a couple feet of very clear water – no place for a cautious trout. Lake Ontario’s Recreational Fishery Hamilton Monday September 27th 2010 till 1933, the U. S. State agencies tried to set up reproducing populations of Chinook salmon in the Great Lakes, but were unsuccessful. Means where there are trees standing in the water, as indicated by some number of Mohawk speakers and aboriginal language expert John Steckley. Mohawks used the phrase to describe The Narrows, where Hurons and other natives drove stakes into the water to create fish weirs. In 1615, Samuel de Champlain portrayed these structures as blocking the channels, with some openings left for catching fish in nets. Radiocarbon dating of surviving stakes reveals that the weirs at The Narrows were in use more than 4, 000 years ago. (nrcan.gc.ca)
I just have had a look at the rules governing quadcopters in Canada. I live in Toronto and have a Syma X5C which I could like to fly for recreation. But can I? My interpretation of the rules is: 1 Can't fly inside 9km of an airport – means I can't fly in my back yard or my local park. Most of Toronto is inside 9km of one of its two airports. Seems Erindale Park in Mississauga and Morningside Park are just about ok. 2 Can't fly inside 150 meters of people or buildings. Few parks are large enough for one to find a spot that meets this condition. I guess if I find a park large enough, as early as someone comes to inside 150 meters, I must stop. (reddit.com)
